“To be honest I kept trying to draw her head more realistic and only like half turned, but I couldn’t get it to look right to me. Then I looked at some anime reference and they kept having the head mostly turned like this so I tried it and liked the look (even if it doesn’t make sense)”
 
I’m willing to bet that this was “quality” anime or that he misinterpreted the position of the body.

I’d like to say to the artist that…the dynamics of the head weren’t portrayed well. I think everyone has noticed that.
 
I’m no artist, but when your back is completely turned to a person, that person won’t see all of your face (unless…you’re different.)
 
Use a mirror and try to turn your back to it. See what you can see in regards to your face. For most people, you’d likely only see the mirror in your periphery vision.
 
References are important for art. If not that, some basic anatomy would help.
 
…Don’t really know why I’m saying that here though and not on the DeviantArt where he/she’d be more likely to see it.
