Then plainly you haven’t been buying/eating the right bread. Golden Hearth Split Top White (in Minnesota) is so damn good you can eat it by itself! Mr’s Bairds (in Texas) was that good when I left several years ago so I assume it still is. Trust me, good white bread exists, it may cost more but it’s worth it.

I normally equate white bread with “edible cardboard”, but when it comes to grilled cheese, I have to agree. Whole wheat just doesn’t cut it.
