That’s because the camera wasn’t set to expose for stars. They were in Lunar daylight exposing for the stars would have washed everything out. Besides, who flies to the moon to take pictures of the sky?
The reason you can’t see the stars in this picture is the same reason you can’t see stars in the daytime. The sun is blotting them out. It’s daytime on the moon. You can’t see stars in the daytime.
