If I recall correctly, they basically made things so hard for her that she had to resign, but technically she wasn’t fired. She’s being so careful not saying anything to contradict the current showrunners because she still wants to get back to working on the show and doesn’t want for burn any bridges.

Lauren (as far as we can tell) was not forced out; she left of her own accord. Would the show have been better had she stayed? Definitely. But we’ll never know.
The real Lauren seems to have made peace with that decision, even if her fans didn’t.
