except the fact that you forget she had no intention of being Celestia’s student.

The enrollment of the school was a gift from her parents in their way to support her passion for magic. It was all just dumb luck that she managed to not only get in but have Princess Celestia herself teach her personally. She never intended to be a princess, she was just thrown on the road to become one. She didn’t specifically want to be more like Celestia, just be able to use magic like her.

Starswirl built upon the actions of prior unicorns too.

And Twilight was training to become a Princess. Look back to Cutie Mark Chronicles. What was it she wanted, and why? From the beginning, she wanted to be like Celestia. It would take some time for her to become socialized enough to realize it, rather than think of it as “becoming great at magic.”

@Lester
I think its more commendable that Starswirl even made it that far with the spell regardless of the fact that there was one of two options in his time frame.

He was either alive when the Elements of Harmony were still one spirit or he was alive when the Elements of Harmony didn’t exist anymore. Yet he managed to make a spell that affected them when they separated into 6 different spirits. The only reason he abandoned the spell was because it was literally impossible for him to perfect it because it had absolutely no visible effect due to the fact that he didn’t have access to the Elements of Harmony.

Also, it was one spell, and it was something she fixed. Starswirl actually researched and created new spells. Several, as implied by the show.

I don’t think Twi actually studied in the standard classroom setting as she was personally studying under Princess Celestia. Besides, the fact that she completed something that someone failed to do so in the first place should be commendable.

And save equestria and rewrite a spell the most powerful mage in the history of Equrestria was not able to complete in just a day.

  1. Fix someone else’s spell
  2. Take credit for making it

    Seriously though, all this stuff she was doing was part of her enrollment of Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns. She never really was training to become a princess.

I prefer my princesses raised by wolves.

however twilight’s ephemeral stroll through the ether with her mentor is pretty cool too.

Makes sense to me. Celestia and Luna don’t seem to be planning on getting married any time soon, and they might eventually tire of their duties. Then who are they going to pass the throne onto? Blueblood? Meritocracy is the way to go on this one.

Shinning Armor’s smarter then her. While she studied and worked her flank off for power, Shinning just realized he could fuck his way into monarchy.
