When coming up with their races and classes in Saturday’s livestream, we had decided Shining would be a Dire Chinchilla before we settled on him being the DM instead of Twi. He now just uses it as his avatar of sorts.
Pssh. That’s not as bad as my Golden Spellrager Suli-jann.
…What, you don’t know what that means?
Well, in Pathfider, Suli-jann are half human/half genie creatures whose ancestry gives them power over the four classical elements; and a Spellrager is a Sorcerer/Barbarian hybrid class where the character has ancestry with a powerful magical creature (Golden Dragon, in this case.) and uses that magical power to amplify their rage.
So, my guy was essentially one third human, one third Golden Dragon, and one third Efreeti. (Efreet being to fire as Djinn are to wind.) Hell of an ancestry there; but the really funny thing was, unless he was fighting, he looked like a normal human barbarian.
I suppose you could start with a base creature that has caster level 11th and some native spellcasting ability; the SRD lich theoretically requires the “humanoid” type but I’m sure a unicorn would qualify in Equestria. Unicorns have CL 8 natively for several abilities and a couple of feats could boost it.
Actually, given their touch attacks, their natural weapons being treated as magic, natural armor bonus, and their immunities, a lich could make a pretty nasty barbarian in 3.5. The problem would be that you have to put 11 levels into a spellcasting class first, so its better just to stay the course. The rage mage prestige class would let you get around that problem some, if it didn’t suck so hard.
@Arzoo
Usually it’s either that or a sorcerer. Can even be a cleric too. But, yeah, a lich as an undead spellcaster. Probably why Shining mentions it being some kind of challenge.
The former. You explicitly need to make your own phylactery.
@Background Pony #FAAE
There’s also the whole “immunity to morale effects” thing. Doesn’t exactly combine well with rage.

“That’s my pony”
Same thing.
