I’m impressed anyone knew what I was talking about. i seem to recall similar things happening in Miranda, but it might have been the sequel, Mad About Men. Need to rewatch them, as well as go look for _ Sous le signe du poisson_. Cheers.
Yes, in a way, except whereas Miranda caught Dr Paul Martin and blackmailed him into taking her on an adventure onto land, the mermaid in Sous le signe du poisson is an attraction of two bumbling antagonists, escapes from them, and the protagonist has to help her because, well, no legs. The antagonists basically chases them throughout the film after that. They use a wheelchair - which she ended up crashing into a well at one point and had to pulled up out of it -, a van with a bathtub in the back, a nautical-themed parade float, and even a tractor to get the mermaid from place to place.
So it’s a knockoff of _Miranda, then.
