Background Pony #EB53
Evil side: I say we lock the rebels and Twilight’s forces in one chamber, and end their lives by unleashes the monsters of Tartarus upon them all.

Your attempts at trying to keep a logical argument, let alone one on topic is just getting sad right now. It’s clearly obvious that you are either illiterate when it comes to literature or are just trying to troll me now. Seeing as you can’t even follow a simple link. Either way I would ask that you stop pestering me. I have no more time for your poor attempts at logic.

“Double Facepalm”… You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

Omitting details from the art isn’t going out of his way to say they’re unarmed. There are parts where he didn’t even draw anyone’s eyes’, for goodness’ sake.

By your logic we should just assume their eyes literally went missing, there.

You’re completely missing the point. It doesn’t matter that it was foreshadowed in Star Wars, what matters is many readers will now just expect the resistance to be armed, so they’ll assume it is unless Gashi goes out of his way to show that they aren’t.

@Krek
Why not both? Seeing good guys become the very thing they hate is a classic but having it turn out that everyone was a changeling of some kind from the very beginning… Talk about a random twist! lol

You mean the rebellion becoming as vile and destructive as “Twilight’s” regime, or they turn into changelings?

If the former, “He who fights monsters soon becomes them.”

Judging from Pinkie Pie’s reaction, I have a feeling the rebels run the risk of becoming the very thing they’re seeking to overthrow.

Except in Star Wars nothing is implied. You can see them carrying weapons around with them and flying the ships that they will eventually use against the Empire. Nothing in the comic, up to this page, has even hinted that they even had weapons for the other ponies to use or even armor for them to wear. When writing a decent story it is crucial that you show what’s happening and not just assume that the reader will know what’s going on without even telling them anything.

Also, making your resistance movement look like it’s unarmed, only for them to suddenly have the weapons and gear that they’ll need to stand a chance against whatever it is they’re fighting is call bad writing. It spits in the face of the story’s own continuity and works based on the assumption that the reader has prior knowledge of things that haven’t been established. Unless there was a story before this that established all this info on the resistance beforehand, there is no reason for this to be happening.

If it’s a major plot point, it should be foreshadowed. But typically in a lot of common stories now, Star Wars has created (or followed and is just the most prominent example of?) An archetype of a “resistance”. As such, people automatically assume a resistance is like the Star Wars rebels: outmanned (outponied?) And outgunned, but not completely unarmed.

These kinds of things are just a vague sense you have to get a feel for. Some readers, perhaps many, may share your sentiment, but I think most won’t even notice and just assume the resistance had weapons and armor all along because of “the rebels” archetype.

Thanks to that archetype, you’d have to foreshadow them being unarmed, since the typical reader expects a resistance to be armed.

@Cirrus Light
Yes, because who in their right mind would want details with there story when they can just have things happen for no explained reason? * Double facepalm *

All of this could have been easily avoided if they actually had at least one pony with a weapon standing around anywhere in the past pages. Or even one wearing armor of any kind like the assassin pony on this page. That would’ve at least implied that they were actually doing something in terms of defence. Hell, if Spike had mentioned training the resistance to fight, that would have at least paved the path for them tossing out all those weapons. Seeing as Spike can use a sword it would’ve made sense that he would be able to do that.

So many things could have been done to have what’s happening make sense but no. Why trouble the readers with logical things like details (visual or otherwise) in the comic. Clearly we’re not smart enough for that kind of treatment despite this being a Doctor Who crossover story.

You’re seriously focusing on all the oddest of things, here… I think your idea of a solid story is probably a lecture on logistics and making sure the person always draws all the smallest details.
