We love the show and the fandom but there’s no denying some people out there would get mega triggered just from a picture of all the fandom drama ( Alicorn Twi, Eqg, Starlight etc. )mixed together. Is that a thing yet?
If he were someone else, I wouldn’t respond, but he’s complaining about people complaining about controversial aspects of the show when he himself constantly complains about equestria girls. Regardless, I do see your point, and I will stop now.

I know I’m not making much of a difference, but someone needs to call him out.
Most people I saw were fine with the “Hearts & Hooves” episode. (Especially, considering it was the first episode accidentally leaked early.)
Only drama I saw for it back then was one li’l crazy girl on DeviantArt started drawing hate-art of Cheerilee, because she was afraid the episode was going to canonize “CheeriMac,” and she was a die-hard obsessive “FlutterMac” ’shipper.
Reminds me of the “Sally Acorn VS Amy Rose” drama.

I see. My point still stands though. Given Hasbro’s track record with the toys, chances are Spike in his puffer fish form will look a lot more appealing in the actual movie.

There was drama over the Hearts and Hooves Day episode? The most I remember from that was people feeling that it wasn’t one of Meghan McCarthy’s better stand-alone episodes, but I don’t remember any outright drama over it…
I only count My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic drama here. And yeah, I forgot “How can they do this to Rainbow Dash? How can they dare to teach her a valuable lesson, they are supposed to be her best friends! ;_;”, although, I don’t think there was a big drama about the “Hearts and Hooves Day” episode. Maybe some small fights between shippers, but other than that, I don’t think there was something big about that episode. I’m sure I would have heard of it by now.
And Derpygate? That was the only justified drama, where something was REALLY at stake, and one of the few positive examples for how this fandom can stick together and move something.
If the outcry and protests wouldn’t have happened five years ago, Hasbro would have probably removed Derpy from the show.
Worst possible thing so far. Hell, we still got 8 months until it hits the theaters and a lot can happens in that amount of time.

“Major divide,” you say? So in other words, just the usual normal drama the brony fanbase has been doing for years now. It’s nothing new, we’re already more divided then Sonic fandom is at this point. (Green eyez!) Many people here even say they don’t even like to watch the newer episodes anymore. If this fanbase can survive “Derpygate,” the Twilicorn drama, and all those other dividing “issues” it’ll be fine.
Heck, people were freaking out much worse over the first “Equestria Girls” movie, just making them human, pissed off some fans. If Fish Spike is the “worst possible thing” about the movie, then we might be in for something nice.
