Most people don’t have any hard feeling toward the old design. More like ‘neutral’ than ‘love’.
For new designs, I personally think they could have done better job at coloring them. I see that they tried to do pearlescence that bugs often have, but simple vertical gradients aren’t going to cut it.

The whole point of their transformation is that this new form does not require them to feed off love. They share their love, curing their otherwise insatiable hunger, and possibly subsist on regular food, it’s not clear whether they actually need to eat to live or just enjoy experiencing food along with all their new emotions.
Well, I don’t want to argue about it either. I just love the way how the matte black fur or whatever just looks better than puke green or sky blue for a color.
I haven’t seen the show in a while, like I said, but how did they necessarily change their feeding?
In general, I just want to solicit people’s opinions on why they love the original changeling design, rather than argue or debate over the matter. However, I do want to bring something up relating to your comment.
Thorax was demonstrably non-evil while still in his classic changeling form. The transformation has more to do with the way in which they feed, not with their character or moral decisions.

Um, I meant more that there are a lot of fans who absolutely despise the matured changeling designs and who aren’t in the least bit shy about making their opinions known. (Which I’m fine with, as long as they respect the opinions of those who do like the fabulously-colored bugpony designs.)
they have there oppion and i have mine
Probably because your changeling has hair and your changedling is bald. Try doing it the other way around and you get the same sort of result. (Non-surprise; it’s really hard to find examples of bald female changelings, because anthro ladies look weird without hair)

What I believe is, is that in anthro models, people draw regular changelings and they are more pleasing, when people draw changedlings, they don’t come out as well.
I think its a matter of what’s more aesthetically pleasing. This isn’t exactly about what’s more bug like, but what is more pleasing. And there has to be an obvious bias for classic changelings, because they appear to have no stomach but artists seem to depict some form of a stomach to make them more attractive.
Now, see, you seem to be contradicting yourself, because in your examples, the changedling looks significantly more buglike than the regular changeling. Literally the only thing more clearly buglike in the original is the wings, which isn’t even a fair comparison considering the latter doesn’t have hers extended.

Whoops, fixed it.
You literally linked to the same image twice.

What I believe what people like the most, is that these changelings had a more bug like appearance. From their eyes and the black texture to the wings and the holes in their legs, it was perfectly fine.
What changed was that there wasn’t any black fur or whatever, as well as holes appearing less frequently and pretty much lots changed from their original appearance. I’m trying to explain this as best as I can.
I may have to use anthro designs, but it’ll work for now.
See, look at this.
It hits all usual changeling design and is actually aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
But when you look at this.
Lots change. Where there is things such as antennas and the entire body design was changed, and to be honest, it wasn’t pleasing at all, the blatant change in the design and how different it was is what pissed off the fandom. Classic changelings look better in my opinion. What changedlings look like isn’t exactly as good looking, and in my opinion it looks ugly and I just hate it.

Of course, but why should I believe something will/won’t happen just because a character believes so?
… the part where Starlight literally says ‘this goes against everything I’ve learned from being Twilight’s student but I think Pharynx might not be redeemable’. Trixie’s whole ‘I believe in second and even third chances’ response. Sound familiar?
@Background Pony #AF29
You’ve not been paying much attention to the fandom, have you?
@Keith Mowz
I try to avoid pre-episode spoilers and promos as much as possible, but just watching the episode, I never got the feeling they were hinting at Pharynx being an irredeemable yayhole. Was there something in the episode synopsis, or in the teaser promo clip, that hinted at that outcome, or was it something else?
@Dave33333
I didn’t, though I didn’t think she’d be reformed in her very next appearance. Ah well, c’est la vie.
Or Starlight at first. Where I think most people EXPECTED her to stay a villain.
