I sometimes think I would like to see that happen. Starlight just seems like she somepony that needs a second chance to live her childhood. But with solid support like Twilight.

If I ever do actually write a story like this, it’ll be half painfully earnest story about what a sad little kid Starlight was and half situation comedy of Twilight freaking out about being a mom.

Also, Trixie and Maude will have to be involved.

Things aren’t helped by how Twilight kind of infantilizes her. I mean, Twilight has her live with her, supports her for no charge, and constantly frets about her future and every little decision she makes. Honestly, I keep thinking that Twilight is always about an inch away from just turning her into a foal and officially adopting her as her daughter.

I am half tempted to actually try writing that as a fanfic. It might make for a good story.

@A Non Man
That’s pretty much who she was as a villain if you think about it. She didn’t know how to let go of something that happened in her childhood so she never really grew up. And how did she deal with it? She found something else to pin the blame on, and created her town - her own personal fantasy world where she thought she could never be hurt again. And when Twilight and friends broke that illusion, she basically threw an elaborate temper tantrum.

A lot of her villainous behavior actually makes sense if you think of her not as an adult, but as a ridiculously powerful child lashing out at the world. She’s gotten a lot better since meeting Twilight but she still retains some of her childish tendencies.

Ever get the feeling that Starlight isn’t so much an adult pretending to be a child here but is actually a child who’s been pretending to be an adult? It would explain her impulse control problems and how easily she panics when dealing with her emotions.

While I’ve been kinda neutral on Starlight’s back story, this part ducking got me because 1. This is like reliving those fears she had after Sunburst left, and 2. I’ve had those feelings of wanting to become young again with a lot of my friends (or in most of the cases, former friends) just to relive the better times of childhood.

If we could time travel back to 2012 or 2013, I had almost unlimited caring potential back then D:
