Luna’s reasons for snapping wasn’t really dumb though.
Pretty much her work not being appreciated(especially how its shown that her work is really tough according to Royal Problem) and being stuck in Celestia’s shadow caused her to be consumed by bitterness/jealousy/pain/sadness/anger that led Nightmare Moon to be born.
If her reason of becoming evil due to jealousy is considered to be dumb, then all characters ever that fell into evil due to jealousy is considered to have dumb reasons of turning evil.
And what was Trixie’s and Luna’s punishments after they got reformed? Nothing, ponies did backflips and celebrated a parade when Luna became good, but continued to hate Trixie even tho she was only evil for a day, had no control of her actions, and did less evil things than Luna did when she was Nightmare Moon for so many years. So the lesson here is, the more evil things you do in life, the less hate you will get for it when you stop doing it. That’s how logic works in this show.
Well, Luna’s episode about dreams, yeah, wasn’t that good for an actual lesson, meanwhile Sunset actually had consequences after what she had done, unlike Glimmer
You must hate Trixie, Sunset, and Luna also, they all had very dumb reasons for becoming evil, and became good later after 1 or 2 episodes/movies. If you only hate Starlight for those same reasons, then that makes you a hypocrite.
I said new, aka Glimmer, she was evil just because someone got a cutie mark before her, and then redeemed with next to none reprocussions to what she did
You mean Twilight Sparkle? Because if you do then yeah I agree, she should stop winning all the time in the show, comics, movies, and all other media. It’s getin kind of boring at this point.

That time they teamed up Discord and Thorax, Spike got captured, and everyone lost to Chrysalis except Thorax, and no one gave a fuck about him when he turned into a green moose bug.
