That’s because the current writers for FiM are, for the most part nowadays, spineless. The setting and characters give them more material then they’ll ever need but very rarely do they take anything more then the safest route, and write too many episodes to spin their wheels as slowly as possible. And it often causes contradictions.
 
Take one of Sweetie Belle’s most recent episodes. This episode was obviously supposed to demonstrate the changing relationship between a young adult and their grade school sibling who is now a preteen sibling, but as far as future episodes go, the CMC may as well be still on the playground, and likely are.
 
My point is, certain writers want to create something that can last and creates permanent character development for the main cast, but other writers do not and it doesn’t last. That’s why relationships with effort are usually off the table for preexisting characters.
 
I’m not saying the writing overall sucks, but some consistant aspects they really do have problems with.

That is a fair point. Even the parents of the mane 6 don’t really have that chemestry, y’know?
 
The only time i’ve seen it working was with AJ’s parents, but since we will never see them again… yeah

I hear this non-stop. Either you think the show writers are awful, or you don’t want gay characters on the show. Neither is a good opinion, and I’m tired of seeing this constantly.
 
Now with the writers being bad thought, as far as relationships go they tend to avoid them, and I can see why. TwilightxFlash was awful. TwilightxTimber was also awful. SpikexRarity has not been great. ShiningxCadence had no buildup to it at all. CakexCake we never actually see them being a couple. MatildaxCranky getting a little better. MacxSugar actually a real relationship, but it’s just the start of it and has not been built on.
 
I think I just made myself no longer want to see a gay couple on the show. The writers really do suck at relationships.

Gay relationships are just as innocent as straight ones, and the show definitely has those. It even has married couples. Unless you take issue with those straight relationships as well you are simply being homophobic. No two ways about it.

I hope so, but mlp is just too obvious. I mean, they tease us with the lyra x bon bon thing and yet they say they’re only friends. They shouldn’t be scared of making this a thing so why do they only makes them friends? Honestly, i like the way the show is right now. They don’t need lgbt to appeal or anything and they know that. It’s too inocent, that’s what i’m trying to say

I dunno, i mean the show is really inocent to explicitely show lgbt characters on it. I don’t mind as long as they’re actual characters and not tropes for sjws (being gay just for the sake of it and using it as a selling point) or whatever, but the controversy would be colossal. A lot of countries wouldn’t accept that (such as mine)
