I wish we could have gotten this ending, along with the Shadowbolts trying to redeem themselves to Sci-Twi afterwards, instead of showing that they’re incapable of learning from their mistakes in Dance Magic.

Have you noticed how Princess Twilight only appears on the Equestrian side of EQG now? Or how Legend of Everfree had Sunset tell Flash to get over Twilight by proxy instead of Twilight doing it herself?

If the immediate followup to Friendship Games had been a series (even of shorts, like they’re doing now), Sci-Twi remaining at Crystal Prep and forming a secondary cast with the Shadow 5 (and Spike) would have been the obvious move. The two groups could have been mixed-and-matched as necessary; there’s certainly nothing stopping them from associating with each other outside of school. As things were though, I can’t say I hold them having Sci-Twi transfer to CHS against them.

Honestly, having Sci-Twi transfer to CHS instead was pretty obviously done so that they wouldn’t have to keep bringing in Princess Twilight. Which is honestly a shame.

To be fair, if they did go with the original plan, the Shadowbolts wouldn’t have stayed bland for long, since they’ll have more exposure and development through episodes with Twilight instead of bits and pieces in one-off specials.

I love how you said TS actively friendshipping the mane 6 that means Sunset is in EQG a main Mane 6.

Actually, that would have been more interesting than what we have now. Not that what they are doing is bad but it would have been a bit cooler to see it go this direction.

Given how bland the shadowbolts were, I honestly think things went for the best. They totally scrapped focusing on and developing on them in FG, making me not care about them.
 
Which is sad as they looked to have been designed as something of “nega-mane six” in their concepts given the blurbs about them mirroring each of the mane six (lemon zest being a partygirl but not caring about connecting to others mirroring pinky pie’s reason for partying being TO connect to others, and Sugar coat mirroring applejack in being honest but blunt and uncaring about how states things)

Now I’m even more disappointed in you DHX, I demand more Lemon Zest.

An interesting concept, I would like to see more of the Shadowbolts…

Yeah but considering that the crystal prep students weren’t exactly popularly portrayed during that movie, it probably would’ve been better as it is.
