- After the Changeling Queen almost ruined his wedding day, Shining Armor was relieved to hopefully never hear from any Changeling again. Although one faithful night, a knock on his door almost became his worst nightmare. Shining Armor and Cadence discovered an off-white egg nested carefully in a basket with a note that read: “Smuggled this out of the Changeling Hive. That’s no place for a pony, let alone a pony hybrid. Keep it safe.” and it was signed anonymously.
- Shining Armor’s first reaction was to get ride of the egg immediately. He suggested everything to his wife aside from smashing it. The both of them knew this egg was conceived while the Chrysalis was disguised as Cadence. Cadence snapped at her husband for ever suggesting such things. “It’s your child-our child-and she belongs here with us. Shame on you Shining.” Cadence scolded as she scooped up the egg in her arms and chucked when she felt something move around inside. A few days later out popped a gooey white larva that wriggled around leaving slime trails everywhere and screaming. The little grub was named Cicada because of all the crying she did the first few days of life. The two new parents knew nothing about raising a changeling, let alone a changeling hybrid so they consulted Sunburst who for some reason had a book on it.
- As Cicada got a little other, her mother decided that it would be time for her to get a Crystaling but unfortunately the Crystal magic didn’t work on Changelings. The grub has cravings for love like normal all the other changelings which was eagerly met but Cadence, Shining was still a little hesitant with his daughter. Cadence taught her daughter how to also give love back to those who show it to her, which is why she grew up more pony-like than like a changeling.
- Cicada was already school-aged by the time Flurry Heart and the rest of her siblings were born. She was so reclusive that she honestly never minded the fact she was never the center of attention, although she is much more closer to her mother and siblings than she is with her father. She kind of resents him for always acting so awkward around her but the ill thoughts fade as quickly as they appear.
- Cicada currently resides with her family in the Crystal Empire, humbly watching her siblings with pride at all the amazing things they can do and wishes she had the confidence to do so.
I tried to make a more original ChrysaArmor kid that wasn’t just a changeling body with Shining’s hair on them
Pretty happy with how she came out ^^
She technically has no claim to the Changeling hive because Thorax toke it over after he dethroned Chrysalis–succession by combat or revolution is totally legal. Plus I don’t think I want Cicada to ever rule over the Changeling hive tbh
