Doesn’t matter ‘cause Starlight’s never going to appear in EqG again, and it was a one-time thing. (Especially, after all the fanbrats got angry over that.) I wouldn’t mind Sunset appearing in the Ponyverse as a one-time thing actually, I just don’t think she’d fit as a recurring character, and EqG would lose some of it’s uniqueness.
 
All things considered, I find it ironic people hate Starlight for the same reasons they love Sunset. Like those that complain about Starlight “taking over the Pony show,” (despite there being less of her recently) are fine with Sunset taking over EqG basically. (Sunset is a more of a main character in that then the Mane 5 were, only occasionally playing second-fiddle to Twilight or Glasses Twilight.)  
I think it’s because EqG gets fewer “episodes,” so I often wonder if Sunset appeared as much as Starlight, would she be hated by a quarter of the fanbase too?
 
I’m sure if they had her appear more often, then fans would probably get sick of her, much like they have characters like Twilight, Starlight, Trixie, and such. So it’s impossible to please everyone.

She’s canon in the main series too, and always has been.

They don’t have to bring Sunset Shimmer into the show. They could just mention her name like they did for Tempest Shadow.

She is canon in the EqGirls movies/shorts/specials. Honestly, I don’t think she’d add anything new to the main Pony show, and EqG might lose some of it’s uniqueness if Sunset becomes a recurring character in the main show. Having her in it, woukd be like just having a second Starlight Glimmer to me, no offense.
