Throughout the Diamond and Dazzle series, Dazzle has helped both Diamond and Peal to grow beyond themselves. Through compassion and sympathy, he’s helped Peal to set aside her snobbery and embrace a side of her that defies the ideal “perfect kitty” persona she was obsessed with upholding. Through companionship and a little tough love, Dazzle has instilled powerful feelings in Diamond and brought her to realize that admitting those feelings isn’t weakness, with a little help from Illy.

All the while, Dazzle himself has remained a gluttonous sugar fiend who has only made very minor headway into kicking his habit, relapsing almost immediately when he tries to do better due to his owner and cousin increasingly growing closer to him and enabling him out of misguided love. With his natural cuteness and ability to ‘dazzle’ others, he makes it very difficult for others to deny him something when he asks for it. This spoiled nature he’s developed has finally come to a head. Diamond and Peal have both grown. Now they seek to help Dazzle take his turn, because if the vet sees what a potato sack he’s become, he may never see another piece of candy again…
