Do people not get this or is it actually a law that two characters in the same piece of fiction can’t have the same name? I actually have two OCs both named Silver Storm, for example (Cotton Cloudy’s mother and the pegasus version of Silver Spoon)
While I can accept that it is not canon (or atleast not main canon) for any discussion. IDW is not allowed to do what ever it wants. The comics have to follow the show, but can be overruled by the show. That is in their licensing contract.

I’ve seen sadder and more forced attempts to declare the comics not canon, I’ll give you that much.

Well, it makes sense when you realize that there are hundreds of people with the same first, last, or sometimes both names here on earth… Makes sense that unoriginality would exist over in Equestria too.
There are also two Cloud Chasers - one female (who showed up with Flitter in Hurricane Fluttershy), and one male (who was with Dash and Flitter in It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies).
