And here I am to make this worse for all of you with a scientific fact:
Luna moths don’t have mouths.
Like the mayfly, they did all the eating they were ever going to do as larvae, and now that they’re adults their only purpose in life is to reproduce before their nutrient stores are exhausted and they starve to death.
To be fair i caught a pigeon recently and had a similar reaction. (literally excitement of “i got it! now what???” (lol)
(Pigeon was stunned or in shock and was in a dangerous area. Literally made no effort to escape until he was in my hands then he realised. It took three attempts to get him to fly but he eventually flew off safely)

neat, I’m an Aussie so I never see those things, just small cabbage white and occasional painted Lady
It’s a Luna moth. They live in the US and Canada, and are some of the biggest moths on the continent.
