Twilight let out a deep breath. She’s forgiven Flash as soon as he’s walked into the science lab and tackled Rising Star. Now that she knew what he’d seen in the garage, she understood why he’d thought something really strange was going on. It all made sense, even if what he’d said had hurt her feelings.
“I know,” Twilight said. “I know. It’s okay.”
“And I don’t think about Mid-Sparkle, ow whatever her name was, anymore. I never thought of you that way,” he went on. “I think you’re… perfect.”
Twilight could feel the heat creep up her cheeks. She didn’t dare look at Flash. Instead she kept watchin Lotus’s science fair presentation. “Thanks, Flash…”
If you think this is just wishful fanfiction from this wishful fangirl, YOU ARE WRONG! This right here is an illustration form a fragment of an ACTUAL chapter book published by Hasbro: “Twilight Sparkle’s Science Fair Sparks”. Which almost definitely happens in an alternate universe where the events of “Legend of Everfree” are non-existent because IT HAS SCIFLASH, EVERYBODY!! Although yes, it wasn’t the best book EVER and I wasn’t 100% happy with how they despicted Flash’s character at times, it was a good reading, the story was short and sweet, and well… it’s the closest I’ll ever have to my OTP becoming canon </3 If you like this ship or even just Flash Sentry, I recommend you look it up!

It can’t take the cuteness!
It does take place between Friendship Games and Legend of Everfree - ie Sci-Twi has Midnight issues, Cinch is still the principal, while in Dance Magic (which takes place right after Legend of Everfree) it was stated Cadance replaced Cinch as the principal some time ago.
Sci-Twi also states it’s the first time she sees people from her old school, since Friendship Games, so it cannot take place after Dance Magic.
The fact that the animated works contradict Flash and Twilight getting close before Legend of Everfree - how Flash and Sci-Twi were uncomfortable in contacts in Legend of Everfree, and even latter, up until the very recent Snack Psychic, way after LoE. Seeing how she got with Timber in Legend of Everfree, and was distant towards Flash, this would make Sci-Twi makes her look rather bad on many levels (and this is just a few reasons, why this book isn’t canon.)
