well, the story in my head is that jet tried to get her pregnant so she’d give up on eqsa, and she fell for it so hard that she gave up on everything trying to be the perfect mother, even when he tried to get her involved in the new company. then she got depressed and started getting into drugs, because she didn’t want to admit that being the perfect mother was a terrible idea for her. when she found out he knocked her up on purpose, he pretended he was such a great guy for being devoted to the family, because then he hated how she was ruining her life and couldn’t admit that he fucked up. she overreacted (again), blaming him for everything including her drinking problem and not being the genius rocket scientist she thought she was, and buggered off to drown her sorrows in even more brain damaging drugs. her self esteem was shattered, he had to play the responsible holier-than-thou “be the better man” so hard he started pitying her, and they both were getting on in years, which only made delta feel like her life was wasted even more.
 
and apogee feels rejected by both of them, and thinks if she can save her mother then they’ll both stop associating her with all the pain and hardship she’s a living reminder of. but raised by jet, she thinks it’s all about family, so she’s trying to use her magic daughter powers, when really what she needs to do is find someone else to save delta, and help her mom feel like she isn’t just a mother by giving her some emotional distance.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: These two loved one another. But love was all that mattered to Jet, and love didn’t matter enough to Delta.

I dunno, she seemed pretty darn naive back then. I don’t think somepony studious as her would get drunk often, much less engage in revelry. she certainly didn’t have any objections to taking responsibility when he lied to her and said he impregnated her on accident. maybe she was horny and confident, and figured it was worth the risk, since she didn’t think he’d push to cum inside as hard as he did that time. she never did it to manipulate jet though. all delta ever asked was for jet to leave her alone. all jet asked delta for was… everything.

There is also a difference between “going to get drinks” and having drinks in your bedroom, which is a place where certain activities take place. You do Delta a disservice by implying she’s so naive that she doesn’t know when someone is suggesting a drunken night of revelry as a final goodbye.

If you choose to impair yourself around someone who you are attracted to, you have to accept that you have a responsibility for the actions both before and after said impairment. Jet didn’t hold her down, he just made a suggestion for them to have drinks, and to have sex, both of which Delta was clearly down for. She might have protested his idea of wanting to get her pregnant, but not the sex or the drinking.

my point is that delta doesn’t want to raise apogee. he’s a dick for many reasons, but taking apogee to raise on his own is not one of those reasons.
