Apologizing would be pointless. Up until Nightmare Nyx destroyed her, Nightmare Moon, Nyx and Luna were three separate entities. The whole Children of the Nightmare thing was Nightmare Moon’s idea alone. Princess Luna may have created the Nightmare (in the cartoon’s continuity), but she can’t be held responsible for something she herself didn’t do.

thing is, Good Vs. Evil wasn’t the theme of the story at all, the central theme of Past Sins was Redemption and Forgiveness.

My pet peeve with Past Sins was that no one was really a villain which is a dumb idea. It would’ve been a better story if Nightmare Moon had actual followers that worshipped her and Spell Nexus should’ve been the main villain of the Story along with the Nocturnal cult instead of remnants of Nightmare Moon’s magic that brainwashed them.

Except SHE didn’t do it. It was Spell Nexus possessed by a separate remnant of Nightmare Moon that did the actual brainwashing and who pushed Nyx into the role of tyrant. If anyone’s to blame for the whole thing, it actually falls on Luna. The moment the ritual was interrupted, Nyx was pretty much a seperate pony from Nightmare Moon, which was the whole point of Luna taking back the power and memories that had been added to her.

And that he is basically perpetuating a vicious cycle of Imprisonment and Forget. Luna was sealed away in her Moon for 1000 years, everypony that once knew her, every record detailing her name and what it was she did for the nation, almost all of it was erased to the point that nopony even knew her own name or that she and Celestia were sisters when she did return.  
Nyx was consumed by her memories as Nightmare Moon when the ritual was finished, however itself was hollow and empty, something that filled Nyx deeply with shame and regret for willingly throwing away the life she was given when she was found by her mother, Twilight. The friends she made around Ponyville, the experiences she had, the memories she made, every one of it had a ray of light shining down upon her. The fact that she had everything that her previous incarnation had desired to have, only for that version to have it taken away from Nyx and forcing her into an upwards battle to actually erase the distinction of Nightmare Moon from Nyx and cast it off entirely, and she paid for every square inch of that goal, she bled, she was broken, she was bruised, and battered fighting against the creatures of Everfree to protect the ponies she once dearly loved, coming close to the brink of death to acieve this to bring that little peace to her heart since in her words, “it was the only thing she could actually do right”
 
Pulp Puree in his own bias made out of Regrets and Sorrows over what he did as a Child of Nightmare, he wasn’t able to move forward with his life, accepting that his role while flawed could be learned from. Chose to wallow for years in this cesspool, believing that the fault was that of Nightmare Moon and refused to forgive himself and herself for everything that happened. This ended up trapping him in the same flawed decisions that had plagued Celestia for 1000 years, believing that the only way to get rid of this mistake was to erase it from ever happening, defeating the purpose of history and the lessons we learn from it.

Why Mr. Puree, what a gorgeous glass house you have. What’s that? You want to play a few rounds of stone throwing?
 
 
Seriously dude, most of what you’ve done could be considered monstrous on the level you accuse Nyx of being, given that you effectively BRAINWASHED THE PLANET. And you expected to avoid punishment yourself, considering you went out of your way to do the same to your wife and Shining Armor to try and hide the evidence.

I mean, they’re all nuts if they put “destruction of all life on earth by eternal night” on the same level as “breaking into an apple farm and doing some stuff”.
