Description

Chrysalis was dying.

As she stepped with ghost-like silence through the vast forests that bordered Luna Bay, she contemplated her options. She hadn’t eaten in years, and consuming the odd squirrel or fish was not sufficient food for her kind. Changelings needed love. An emotion that slid down the throat like honey, saccharine and fatty. Yet, while it’s flavor varied pony to pony, it always had the most satisfying bittersweet taste. Chrysalis craved to taste even one drop of the stuff, but she knew her luck was all but exhausted. The starving Queen had no drones, no workers, no larvae to keep the hive strong. She was alone, and she would die forgotten. Her bones ached as her flaking exoskin clung to them. Her once luxurious mane held to her in wispy, broken patches, and her eyes were the most sickly shade of milky green. All she could do was walk, as nothing was left for her.

Her lineage would die, too, if she couldn’t find a mate. She gritted her teeth, hating the world and the unfairness it had wrought upon her shriveled life. All she had wanted was to feed her colony the love they do needed to survive. Surely the ponies could have spared it. Yet they clung to it like mewling foals, and left her starving subjects to die. That was until the horrid betrayer Thorax stole her people from her, undermining every scrap of work and tender care she had put into her hive. There was nothing. They had taken it all from her, and she only wished an insufferable punishment would be inflicted on Equestria. A blight that would kill their spirits, make them greedy and self destructive. Make them go through the exact horror she had witnessed within her colony.

Without food, the changelings had turned on each other. Fighting over any ounce of a meal they could find. There was death, famine, inbreeding, and worse, Chrysalis could not have stopped it. Their actions were merely a response to her failure, which had been brought forth by Equestria’s greed. She hated them. She hated herself. Someone would have to pay.

She need a new Queen; a child to carry on her great mission and preserve the tradition and sanctity of the changelings. Changelings ate love. It was simply the way it had to be. Of course, Chrysalis knew the fate of a queen who is set to lay a baby queen. But this could be no mere Changeling Queen like herself. Surely her daughter would be just as likely to fail. This had to be something…greater. She needed….

Discord.

Chrysalis spotted the draconequus sulking by a stream, heaving with sobs. She marveled. Perhaps her luck was not fully spent. A viscous green saliva dripped from her smiling maw. Yes…he was perfect. With their combined powers…their children would feast upon Equestria until nothing remained but blackened ruins. Their world would shrivel away as her daughter supped greedily on their grotesque corpses. In the end, Chrysalis had won. Despite all that the ponies had done to her, she would be the ultimate winner.

From the shadows she crept toward him, calling in a singsong voice, “Discord…”

Discord slowly swung his head around to look at her with wet eyes. “Chrysalis? What are you doing here? You look horrid.”

She gave him a flat look, “I don’t look half as bad as you. What happened, Bedbug? Somepony break your heart?”

He didn’t answer, turning back to look down at his warped reflection in the stream.

“Ah…yes…to think that we tried so hard to live in harmony with those ponies…and yet, once again, they cheated us of the same quality of life and equal treatment that they have for others like them. The prerequisites for friendship are so great…” She paused, walking forward to sit beside Discord. She dipped a hoof absentmindedly in the stream. “Ugly creatures like us can never belong. Ponies may fall in love with us…but in the end, we are still monsters.”

“To be fair, we were both born from a putrid swamp.” Discord sniffed. “And we’ve relished in their misery since.”

“Ta! Sounds like unfair judgement to me…You can tell me in so many ways why the ponies are right to hate us. Yet, at the end of the day, here you and I are. Alone, starved and heartbroken.” Chrysalis smiled, letting her gossamer mane fall down softly. “But…we don’t have to be. How long has it been Dissy? A thousand years or so? Don’t you think it’s time we…relive our teenage years in our twilight hours?” Her wing brushed Discord’s side.

Discord flinched, “You don’t want that…” Yet he felt such a longing for someone else’s touch that he couldn’t help but shudder as Chrysalis ran a surprisingly soft hoof through Discord’s overgrown mane. He met her acid-green eyes and felt his mind going numb. Chrysalis leaned forward and kissed him softly. He bared his teeth. “Don’t. I don’t want you. I don’t want anyone anymore…”

Chrysalis pulled away, “Not even…if I look like this?” Discord shut his eyes, knowing what was coming next. A green flash, and suddenly the tiny, spitting image of Fluttershy stood before him. The fake-Fluttershy stared up at him with her usual sweet, worried gaze. His heart churned. “Dissy?” Chrysalis asked in Fluttershy’s voice. “Please…let me help you…” She grabbed his face between her hooves, hugging him tightly with her downy wings.

Discord’s mind whirled. Between his despair and Chrysalis’ magic, he almost believed that Fluttershy was hugging him again. That everything was okay. That his son still loved him. In a moment of weakness, he let Chrysalis as Fluttershy push him down onto his back, kissing him passionately. Discord felt so disgusted in himself, and yet…if he pretended this one moment…maybe he would forget all of his troubles. As Chrysalis took over his mind, he felt the most wonderful sensation of floating away. He felt full of purpose. He wanted…no. He HAD to serve his Queen. And give her all of the love that nasty Fluttershy and rotten son took from him. But Chrysalis…sweet Chrysalis…she was not like them. She understood Discord like no other could.

Such love he had never felt before came forth, and he wanted nothing more than to be beside Chrysalis for the rest of his days. No one would stand between them…and they would give birth to a new Queen, together. They would render the world into chaos under the supreme reign of their child. Discord grinned against Chrysalis’ lips as his thoughts became hers, and they were one and the same. He would give Chrysalis a new hive if it was the last thing he ever did.

That’s what I call catching flies with vinegar! buddum-tsh! someone should probably arrest me for how unfunny i am

This is prolly like, a year, after Discord left Fluttershy and his seven-year-old son. He’s kind of an emotional wreck.
