It is based on the historical-fiction novel Schindler’s Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. The novel was awarded the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction in 1983.
A movie about a guy who loses his fortune saving people who are so grateful that he dies in poverty in the end. Luckily, the movie is based on a fictional story. So the allegory can be safely ignored.
