Description
You can pet Thorax right now. You should wait until Pharynx makes it clear he just wants some love and totally doesn’t like being pet or anything like that before you pet Pharynx :D

Most likely, but the screen is in the way.
You have two hands, right?
An animal of that size and body mass does not get fazed by beer very easily, but at the same time they recognize when their humans are sharing something special with them and often enjoy it as a reward for doing good. :p
you reminded me of a story I saw that talked about an Elephant that only like one trainer and would get upset with them if they forgot to share a beer with them before going to sleep.
You’ve never lived until you feed horses~
And take them for walks~
And brush their mane~
And share your beer with them~
Edited
I don’t know if I’m going to go there but if I ever get the chance to go to Vegas, I wouldn’t mind letting you know.
My sister owns a family ranch in Southern Nevada, about an hour south of Vegas, if you ever visit Vegas and want to see a bunch of animals let me know. :p
To include cats, dogs, horses, goats, chickens and turkeys. :p
I can understand the uncanny valley complaint since I’ve felt the same about them in some shots. But at the same time, I’ve felt the same about the old ones too and even the ponies themselves sometimes due to the occassional odd camera angle (specifically and especially when a character is looking directly at the camera) or some of the weird jokey exaggerated facial expressions that sometimes pop up during the series.
As for their stomachs, I never really read their tapered underbellies as them being emaciated. But I admit that’s probably because I’ve seen some real animals that have tapering bellies like that while still being well fed and physically healthy (e.g. cheetahs and some breeds of dog) so I didn’t really pay much mind to it. Of all things regarding their designs, that was honestly the last thing I even noticed about them.
But I can see what you mean now that you mention it, especially since that kind of tapering doesn’t tend to happen with hooved animals (especially not in equines). Now that you mention it, I probably would have given them round bellies too. I would have filled the holes and kept the fangs too.
I left my number at several pet stores and animal shelters, but some of clerks weren’t too confident how to identify a little critter that has no defined shape or color. :x
Give them your number and tell ’em to call you the moment they get some changelings in.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@mjangelvortex
They’re just too gaudy and nauseously colored. I get a serious uncanny valley vibe from them too since before they looked like their own species and they were cute and expressive in an animal sort of way, but now they just look like chopped up diseased ponies (Ocellus looks like an 80 year old pony to me, and they STILL have the sunken stomachs and protruding rib-cage that makes them look emaciated). I think at most I would have gotten rid of the ragged holes in their legs and wings and not made them look emaciated. Ironically, this guy looks a lot healthier than any of the changedlings do D:
I want to visit you guys. I love dogs and cats.
They weren’t behaving like dragons that I was expecting, but with my luck the moment that I turn around and leave, they all probably started flying around the room and breathing fire. :p
…actually now that you mention it, are you sure they’re dragons? ;3
🐲👁🔼
The most interesting dragon that I have seen so far has been a Chinese Water Dragon, but not even he was breathing fire, but he was still pretty mysterious looking.
No sign of any changelings, you would think they are trying to hide on purpose or something?
@mjangelvortex
Between my place and my sister’s place, seriously, dogs and cats everywhere. :p
Adopt a dog or a cat instead.
@Dirty Bit
I didn’t notice that at first.
@morphic tide
I like the idea of the antlers since they look a bit like beetle mandibles which fit the overall beetle theme the new Changelings had going for them (e.g. them having beetle wings). Speaking of, I am a sucker for a nice visual pun (Stag Beetle).
However, I wouldn’t have made them as large or colorful as Thorax currently has them now. I would have given Thorax mandible-antlers that are the same size and shape as Pharynx’s antlers and would have made them a different color (possibly grey or black).
That being said, I agree with you on liking the wing coverings too and agreeing that some design variation is needed for the Changelings so the ones in the group can stand out as individuals.
I think Thorax’s current canon design is based on a Golden Stag Beetle and the other Changedlings may be based on Rainbow Stag Beetles.
But for whatever reason (Flash limitations, time reasons, budget reasons) he and the other Changedlings don’t look as good as the actual real beetles. I feel the show tried to make them look iridescent but ultimately failed to get that point across with the design so the end result looks too busy.
Had I designed Thorax’s new design, I would have based it on this King Stag Beetle. It’s still based on a beetle but it’s not too bright and colorful. Using this as a reference would definitely make Thorax’s design a whole lot less busy since you would only have blue, green, and black as colors as opposed to lime green, dark green, light blue, light purple, dark purple, and orange. The design would be closer to the original old school Changelings due to the darker colors too.
@Badumsquish
I can’t necessarily blame you for thinking that either. Had I worked on the show, I definitely would have made it so that only some of the hive followed Thorax not all of them. I like the idea of there being multiple colonies: one being run by Chrysalis, one by Thorax, and maybe more run by other Changeling leaders.
As for the change upon reforming, I would have gone with either one of two options. I either would have only changed Thorax (as a symbol of him becoming the new leader). Or I would have made it so that some of reformed Changelings changed drastically (including Thorax), others go through minimal changes (perhaps slight color swaps or a Changeling loses their holes while still keeping everything else in their design), and other members in colony haven’t changed at all. Kind of like how some of the followers of Queen Novo’s kingdom either choose to stay as a Hippogriff, a Seapony, or even chose to choose between both.
D-Dwaggies?!? :D
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! ^^
…B-But! How goes the search for Lovebugs? ;3
I found a adoption center that has dragons!
A bunch of lazy dragons who lay on their bellies under heat lamps who can’t be bothered to breathe fire…
I was like “you won’t get adopted with that sad display!”
S-Search and search u-until you find lovebugs to adopt! ^^
T-Those buggies need you!
On it! O_O7
S-Search harder! Find more animal shelters!
@Nameless1257
So I just stopped by my local animal shelter and they didn’t have any changelings for adoption, what do?
