I won’t lie — seeing all the people the CMC helped over the years come together for Scootaloo’s sake put a tear in my eye.

‘CMC Thank You Party’ would make a nice tag.

I the reason why they didn’t include Rumble here was because the CMC didn’t technically help him. More rather it was his Wonderbolt brother who did most of the convincing.

Pretty cool they brought back almost all of the ponies and other creatures the CMC have helped over the course of the series.
 
As for the episode itself, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, they could have used it as a lesson about growing up and learning to adapt. On the other hand, Scootaloo did build up a life for herself in Ponyville while her parents were away, and while it’s understandable they’d like to spend more time with their daughter, pulling her away from Ponyville now after all this time does seem a tad cruel. Maybe there’s a lesson in there for parents as well.
 
Ultimately I think a compromise would have worked best: Scootaloo accepts moving with her parents, but her parents agree to let her return to Ponyville on a regular basis.

That was not what happened.

Kind of amazing they were able to gather characters from Mount Aris, Griffon Stone and a traveling rodeo all in less then a day.

I like to imagine that there’s a scene where the CMC tell Derpy, “And that’s everything you ever needed to know about your Cutie Mark” and she gives a very content smile.

“And the strangest thing was there wasn’t a sad face to be found.”

In real life, people do often find it difficult to maintain close friendships or relationships at long distance. Yes, you can call and write, but that’s not always a good replacement for a friendship that was formed in the context of two people being able to physically interact nearly any time they wished. Long-distance or internet friendships that last are typically ones that started out that way to begin with. It’s why most college friendships dissipate post graduation, for instance.

This was actually a very bad episode with a poor message. Scootaloo throws a temper tantrum and gets what she wants because of it.
 
And they pretty much say in the episode that you can’t be friends if you don’t live close to each other.

They show up at the beginning of “Inspiration Manifestation”, where they were accompanying Sweetie to the fair, and the dad gives the Crusaders a cart ride in the opening of “A Hearth’s Warming Tail”. They do not have speaking roles, though, on further research – I misremembered that part.
