This god-dang information about his death causes me to spit and vomit on the Nintendo 3DS screen
What brought that up?
We already know that Satoru Iwata is f*cking dead with all of that cancer that causes him to die 😞
Why? Miyamoto is just a developer, and Reggie hasn’t been president of NOA in years.
George Lucus appeared at a convention wearing a “Han Solo shot first” T-shirt, so it’s possible he didn’t like that change, and some might not of been his fault.
Oh, I guess you didn’t hear about how recently he had a public screening of the unaltered original trilogy?
Personally I’m in the middle.
yes there were some stupid changes but there was some good ones as well.
really the biggest problem is that George Lucas keeps The originals locked away in 10000 safes
That’s a shame, seeing as most SW fans prefer the original.
Well it’s what I’ve heard from did you know gaming.
Standing away from games but staying with Disney I’ve heard that despite owning both lucasfilm and fox Disney is not allowed to release the non special editions have the original Star Wars trilogy
Isn’t the original story of Tarzan in the public-domain now though?
I guess there’s no one rule on how rereleased a licensed product works.
I believe Disney lost her licence for Tarzan shortly after first Kingdom Hearts game and the franchise could not use Tarzan in new games but they were still able to include it Tarzan in HD ports
More modern games might not have the same problems, especially because they can be sold for more.
Should probably also mention, the “Super Star Wars” SNES trilogy, as well as the SNES Indiana Jones game were released on the Wii Virtual Console, but they actually aren’t licensed games, as technically they were made directly by LucusArts themselves.
However, with the original Wii Shop Channel closed, and Disney buying off LucusFilms sense then, and owning license over the franchises, it seems unlikely they’ll ever be rereleased on Switch Eshop.
Part of the problem is, because licensing can be pricey usually, that’s why old licensed games rarely get rereleased, as selling them for a fair low price even digitally can be a problem. They’re too expensive basically.
TMNT on Virtual Console even had to be sold for a dollar more then most NES games, but that was back when it was an independent franchise, before Nickelodeon/Viacom bought the franchise, which is probably why it was the only licensed game on Nintendo’s Virtual Console.
Edited
Just thought it was worth mentioning remasters it will probably have the same legal problems
Those are single games though, not compilations. I would love to see Konami or somebody make a “TMNT Collection,” or something. (Issues at Konami aside, they did make the best TMNT games arguably. Heck, I even liked the original butthard NES game regardless what the AVGN says.)
1upArcade has also been able to get license for some games like Marvel, Star Wars, and TMNT recently, and are ganna make home arcade cabinets of those with multiple games in them, so that’s the closest thing I can think of licensed game compilations.
I do know that DuckTales got remaster and battle for bikini bottom is getting one aswall as Ghostbusters(although that was more based on the Ghostbusters franchise not just a movie)I’ve done that I can’t finish any other licenced remasters or at least ones that didn’t come out shortly after the original release
Not very much, in fact, I don’t think there’s ever been a compilation dedicated to any movie license games. In fact, older licensed games rarely get rereleased as it is.
Closest things would be the “Disney Afternoon Collection,” (though those were TV cartoons, not movies) and that upcoming Atari Star Wars trilogy arcade cabinet by 1upArcade is sort’ve a compilation.
@Background Pony #88EE
I heard that, but I dunno how true that is.
Apparently, TMNT 2: The Arcade Game almost got a Virtual Console release too, (the first TMNT NES game was the only licensed game ever put on Wii Virtual Console) but was cancelled possibly due to the Pizza Hut ads in-game, which would require further licensing, or because Ubisoft got license for the TMNT franchise at the time, and the game was made by Konami creating legal issues. (Though, that might not be the case as apparently Konami doesn’t own any part of the game, seeing as the upcoming Arcade1up cabinet of TMNT only credits Nickelodeon on the outside cabinet.)

@Beau Skunky
Actually how often do movie licence is get included in compilations?
It actually almost happened in 2008 with most of the parties involved agreeing to it. Rare was even working on a remake at the time.
It would have been released on both the Wii’s Virtual Console and the remake on Xbox Live Arcade but at the last minute, Nintendo of Japan stepped in and put an end to it (the American branch had agreed to it as that point).
“Goldeneye” would be difficult to rerelease, because of the licensing costs from the movie’s makers, and license-holders. It would make it too expensive to sell, especially on a service like the Nintendo Eshop, or X-Box store.
That’s why the Wii “Goldeneye” game is basically a completely new/different game.
Edited
Honestly when I first got rare replay I was really excited to play banjo-kazooie again but one thing I was really disappointed about was that they didn’t include goldeneye which I haven’t played in years.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that, still, they haven’t done much besides that.
Meanwhile, “Rare Replay” is just basically a compilation game, and those aren’t too hard to make. (Man, I wish that’d get a Switch release.)
What do you mean they haven’t made games for years? They have been updating Sea of Thieves for the past few years. And the Kinect era is long over. The release of Rare Replay should have shown you that the Rare of those years that was forced to make Kinect games and act like they liked it is no more.
I dunno, I hear (as I said) many employees left Rare, (some joined Playtonic Games, or went freelance) and frankly they haven’t made any games in years. As I said, the “Killer Instinct” game, and such have actually been made by other developers outside Rare.
And even when they were still making games, they stated they only cared about making “Wii Sports”-rip-offs here in this link. >>578265
So Rare is nothing like it used to be.
