Fun fact: Link’s line, “Excuuuuse me, princess!” was a reference to the then famous Steve Martin line, “Well, Excuuuuuuuuuuse ME!”
Our modern day meme references a reference.
That kinda reminds me of how everyone references Bugs Bunny’s famous catchphrase, “What’s up, doc?” , often including them eating a carrot, but nobody remembers that Bugs eating a carrot was itself a reference to a scene from a 1940’s movie called “It Happened One Night”, in which the male lead (played by Clark Gable) eats some raw carrots that he stole. The reference was obvious to audiences back in the 40’s and 50’s, but most nowadays have either forgotten or never known about It Happened One Night, everyone just knows Bugs Bunny.
Funny how jokes and catch phrases live on through chained referencing, but the origin is often lost to time.
“My otps colour scheme is superior to your otps colour scheme”- Basically the MLP fandom.

If people didn’t take shipping so seriously, this fandom wouldn’t be half as fun.

Thank you. <3
TwiStar is the BEST ship.
(regarding the exchange above - I’ll probably never understand why people are taking shipping so seriously. you did good Skoon, don’t worry about it).
