That in a show where literally every significant character has a list of major mess-ups to their name, acting like the main character shouldn’t be allowed any is stupid.

Also, Celestia’s job is to rule and protect Equestria, so she’s not really a Princess if she makes decisions that endanger it.  
And Luna’s job is to guard dreams, so she’s not really a Princess if she creates a dream demon that endangers them.  
Also, the Element of Generosity can’t be greedy, the Element of Loyalty can’t give up on people who need her, the Element of Laughter can’t make people unhappy, the Element of Kindness can’t be mean to anyone, the Element of Honesty can’t lie, and Twilight’s official friendship counselor can’t mess up her friendships.
 
Wait, that’s not how any of that works.
