This show has weird ways of half assing and disappointing the audiences.
There are so many opportunities they could have made the show with palatable lore, only to not take the opportunities. Or flesh out things in manners that baffles people even more.

This retroactively ruined the show for me.

Me when knocking on the writer’s front door after what I just saw:

Is really hard have a big premier or finale that is epic because of Discord, he appear too soon if they needs to put epic things, reforms him is a 50/50, if you wants to redeem, you must need a great arc and explore more of him, giving the series a big lore with draconequus or any other thing, and if you wants to make him like Q, just don’t redeem him, instead, the episode “keep calm and flutter on” ends with Discord escaping, and now he makes spontaneous appearances like Q to put personal challenges that teach something dark and then disappear and be free.
 
He would no longer do anything like return of the harmony to not pay much attention, the subtlety is enough to have fun with his toys. And then, you can have any epic premier o finale without the Discord’s problem.

Right. And let’s not forget MLP has resorted to this level of bad writing before for Discord. Handing flowers to Celestia does not magically make everyone forget he visably betrayed equestria to Tirek.
 
On a side note, this recent development gives more credit to the idea that joining with Tirek was partially a stupid test, from Discord telling the Mane 6 with a book exactly how to open the box that can beat Tirek and not removing the book when he supposedly “turned”.
 
That’s the thing, these events seem to TRY to make Discord similar to Q, he he actually comes across as foolish, badly written, karmaless, and only thinks he’s super smart.
 
In short, they really needed to think harder on the script. It’s very telling that it’s been a while since there’s been a big premier or finale without several EXTREMELY glaring issues for many fans.

Definitely. Discord’s antics killed off most of his character development and a sizable amount of my admiration for him. No matter his intentions for the whole mess he made, he needs to punished for it wether he likes it or not. Yes, even Fluttershy is ashamed of his deed as I saw in the first part. The only redeeming quality I would speak of him in this episode would be at least he tried to help the heroes once things started getting out of control

I honestly think Discord should’ve faced dire consequences for the stunt he pulled, considering all of the scary implications behind the. Don’t assume that I’m taking any sides out of bias.

Neither was Discord’s ass and he’s done the same after the fact, and even screwed two of the four villains he used for his BS out of any chance of it.

Discord was a piece of shit, but saying Tirek, Cozy, and Chrysalis should get a redemption is convoluted literary perception because they’re not in any position to redeem themselves. They have no redeeming qualities and have all committed excessive levels of crime.

Last I checked Discord’s only free after Tireks first bought because Twilight lied through her teeth and got a free pass for this fiasco.
 
Lord knows Rainbow shouldn’t be allowed to be a Wonderbolt with how many times she’s caused both property damage, not to mention the fiasco with Tank-which news flash wouldn’t have happened if Fluttershy actually made sure Rainbow knew about her pet before just handing him over.
 
And-no, at this point I’ve listed every major instance where the Mane Six, the princess or anyone else got off scot-free fpr the same tripe that ruined another characters life more then a dozen times.
 
They aren’t held to the same standard, they’re lazy as hell when it comes to solving problems and literally all three of Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow got no chances proper for a redemption.
 
Compared to the lying, manipulative, two faced traitor that is Discord getting two separate attempts counting his stint with Tirek and Twilight lying to cover his scaly tail.
 
But people like Discord so they don’t care when the writing lets him do whatever he wants.
 
Last I checked, to use your own words, the show ended with spoiled brats getting everything they wanted while half-assing 90% of what they were supposed to do or turning a blind eye when it suited them.

Season 8’s Cozy Glow was very obvious that most people already knew who is the Big Bad
 
This one is unexpected , YES! But unfortunately it still didn’t work because: It trashed Discord’s character, the hype for Grogar’s return is all for nothing (as someone who never watched G1, I was actually very excited for his appearance). The writers apparently must’ve made a last minute decision to just throw -Grogar out to the trash for *a cheap twist
 
I will still watch this episode when it airs to find any redeeming qualities, I just hope so it does.

I think what he said was a foreshadow to what was to come. AKA Sombra. Could be a reference to the comics and how Sombra is “tall, dark” and to say sombra was handsome was to tease at the fact for something between celestia and King sombra. If you haven’t seen the leaked thing that have happened recently, he knew about this all along. Hence forth he was suggesting to the “new ruler” being Sombra. Not that he would actually become ruler, but just the fact of it.
 
I don’t mean to put down what you were intending but I’m just bringing light to what you used to reference.

Both of you miss the joke. Discord was sking who would become the new ruler of Equestria. Its a joke of him asking whether it is someone “dark tall and handsome” or “lord of Chaos”. In both he was referring to himself giving a hint that he is the only good remaining choice to rule Equestria. He was sucking up to both Luna and Celestia but he wasn’t flirting.

Dislestia shippers had lost it. Get over it. Nobody but you will ever buy that Fluttershy would live in a secluded place where no other stallion can reach her and live in a same house as Discord. A character that Angel Bunny said she wanted to marry few episodes before that finale.
 
At this point you are fighting for Fluttershy to become an old cat lady who never felt love and just live with someone because she doesn’t like Ponyville. It’s time to stop. Nobody want that future for her.

now you are just assuming things just because it’s male and female does not mean they will become a couple because they won’t discord and fluttershy are best friends a friend would be upset if their best friend is in danger

give me EMPIRICAL PROOF that fluttershy and discord dont go a little deeper than friends… because we have AT LEAST ONE account of discord pretty much asking fluttershy to go on a date with him(without actually saying “lets go on a date”) it was in the episode “guys night” when he was asking to take her to some beach together… i’m pretty sure he was lowkey asking her out… plus it seems fluttershy and discord are the closest because in the episode “to where and back again” when thorax mentions that chrysalis took the mane six discord says with FIRE in his eyes… “they took fluttershy?…. WHERE!!!” he seems VERY protective of her as if like I said things go a little deeper than just being friends… and in the 2nd episode of this season when sombra strikes discord fluttershy is the FIRST one by his side… I mean if you look at how often discord talks about her it seems obvious that they have a liiiitle bit of a crush on each other
