Know what all those examples have in common: their Lauren Faust equivalents were there from start to finish! Casey Hudson, Chris Metzen, Ronald D. Moore, Michael Pillar, and David Braben were all at the fucking helm when things went to shit, so the idea that only the creator does it right is a complete crock of shit, because for every creative that gets it right, there are 10 creatives who don’t.

I agree completely. While I still greatly enjoy what we got, I would have really liked to have seen Lauren Faust’s original creative vision and ideas for this franchise come to full fruition. Having her largely in charge (like Kevin Feige with the MCU) would have likely lead to less character derailment, and stronger narrative focus.

The moral of the story? The writing quality for MLP was all over the place. It deserves all the praise it gets, and it deserves all the criticism it gets. No show sets out to divide their own fandom due to their writing, and MLP unfortunately did that way too often. A show is only as strong as its writers.
