The barons of Altalusia lag behind the more advanced Friesland, who lags even further behind the more advanced Equestrian South. While the city state has transitioned fully to cannon and gun, the barons lack the industry to outfit an army with firearms, and the stranglehold Friesland holds over trade prevents mass imports of weapons from reaching the Baron Lands.
 
The Barons thus use more traditional weapons supplemented by limited firearms and cannon. While this works adequately against each other, it is woefully ineffective for the conflict they now find themselves in.
