Description

Here is picture of best pony in Equestria. My waifu. Reminds me of that time I was in school and saw this girl but I was a wuss so I didn’t make a move now I gotta satisfy myself with fictional characters while consuming copius amounts of booze. Best MLP character.I mean Twilight is great, Cadance is great, pink hypogriff is great, but nothing beats the sensious curves of Radiant Hope here. Damn, she is really fine. Please exist.

Indeed, she was there for him even when she could have gone to the faire to have fun, she stayed behind to make sure he was alright. You know, Rabia must have taken advantage of this…

The whole scene is pretty potent. You have to take into account the events leading up to that. Sombra was about to consider if what Hope was saying was the truth and that he was instead the monster all along. The entire time he was blinded by anger and resentment against Equstria, the Empire and Hope herself because he mistakenly thought she betrayed him, so he just wanted to free the Umbrum like Rabia told him and rule Equestria. Then, after he spent some time alone, he started questioning wether they really were peacefull creatures and if Hope only had his best interest at heart and he treated her awfully despite of that. Hope meanwhile, discovers Rabia’s true intentions and gets nearly killed for it. Returning to Sombra, she finds him deep in his previosly mentioned thoughts. Trying to convince him that she was manipulated and that they really are malicious, Sombra gets utterly confused and conflicted. Now he doesn’t know what he wants to do. After Twilight storms in and without any questions hurts both him and Hope, he is convinced that he doesn’t care about Equestria or it’s inhabitants one bit, since they don’t care for him or Hope. Thus, angrily releasing the Umbrum. Rabia however, has other plans. Immediately she demotes him to a mere pawn and starts making her own decisions, causing Sombra to have even more internal conflict. Going to check on Hope to bring her to the execution of the Princesses he explains further plans to take over Equestria. Hope, however, is pissed at Sombra because he has given himself in to his supposed destiny that the Crystal Empire dictated for him and wants him to take control of his own life instead of following his dictated purpouse blindly just like she did, both with the Princesses and the Umbrum. She ensures him that she believes in him no matter what, which is really cute. In the end, Sombra decides to screw destiny just like she did and they set of on their journey. If you think about it, if the Umbrum were so keen to kill Hope wouldn’t they be as free to kill Sombra as well? Hmmm…

Yeah, I guess it’s a combination of tone, art style and perspecitve that made FIendship such a great issue. I agree that her being sombra’s one and only friend makes somebra thinks very fondly of her and cherish their childhood memories all the more, as can be seen in Sombra’s journal.

My favourite part is actually in part 4 of Siege where Sombra was rambling on about ruling the crystal empire and she has that torn expression on her face. At that point of the story she likely knows what she did is horribly wrong but she still did it for sombra, because she likes him that much. I mean she still sticked with sombra after cadence exposed the umbrum’s true form right before her eyes. From that point on everything she did is just for Sombra. To make him happy.

Aaaaaahhhhhh, I get it. Indeed, she is drawn great in Fiendship, like you said, she does have a distinct aura about her.

But, considering it is narrated in universe in Sombra’s journal, from his perspective, it is fitting that “the most amazing pony [he’s] ever met” would be portrayed to an almost angelic like degree. In Siege #36’s recap it is narrated in neutral tone. But sure, of course, there is some artistic difference.

Also, in siege’s story, she is not only a grown mare, but spends most of the story in a pretty miserable and downtrotted state and as you know, Crystal Ponies’ appearance are based on their spirits or moods.

Don’t worry m8 you sound alright. I don’t prefer Brenda’s rendition of Hope because Hope was in her fillyhood and fillies are naturally cute, I prefer her rendition because the way she draws Hope just fits Hope’s character. Her version of hope has that childlike glee that’s somewhat absent in Andy’s filly Hope. Like in the 3rd part of Siege they had a recap of the Fiendship issue and it’s pretty apparent that Andy’s filly Hope just doesn’t look as cute (imo of course)

Interesting comment. Yes, in Fiendship she was essentially the Manic Pixie Dream Girl archetype. When the story picks up in Siege she has done some considerable growth (but remains innocent and optimistic because it’s just her character).

(Also, excuse the cringy post, this was during my heavy drinking phase)

I like Brenda’s version better. Her version of hope in fiendship is magic is what sold it for me. So innocent, so carefree she’s the literal definition of your dream childhood sweetheart. Andy’s version is nice too but imo it just doesn’t compare.
