Please excuse me from hijacking the description space of this image of newfound interest by the Derpi users, about 4 hours before the next featured image shows up. If I don’t join the discussion now that I had the chance, I believe I would regret it later. My apologies if this violates the site rules… of course, these discussions are better started in the forum, but when you give an image the “featured image” status at this kind of times, that action itself is endowing an opinion (albeit peaceful) to the image, and this re-interpretation has the risk of turning it into a discussion space, just like the previously featured burger image.
 
We can hope the recent drama would eventually go away, and it may seem to be the case. Well, it won’t be like this forever. I sympathize with the artists who joined the DNP, but I also understand why some people chose to migrate. Our ideological differences is a bomb that just needs a trigger to set off. It happened before, and it could happen again. Don’t let the picture of a cute lazy Twilight fool you.
 
So, where do we go from here? Thousands of artworks of some of my favorite artists are gone from this site, possibly indefinitely. They removed themselves from here because someone has crossed their lines, but with this action, are they also silencing their voices and beliefs? I’ve always thought of Derpi as a micro model of the Internet. Because of its nature, whatever opinion that exists on the Internet, would show up here, including controversial ones. Then how should I process the fact that this led to the self-ostracization of another opinion? These are surely confusing times. With everything happening all across the world, I’m one of those people who just want to enjoy some ponies here. I want to explore the galore of creativity, the variety of interpretations, the collection of experiences, and I’m sad that a large piece of them is gone.
 
I don’t want to say things like “let’s not make this happen again”, because it will. Our thoughts and stances will inevitably clash, some day, somehow. But we can still be excellent to each other, people. After all that have happened and could happen, love is still the only thing we’ve got to tie us together. Pick up the pieces and start a brand new day.
