“You wouldn’t…” Mulberry says, doing her best to give a hopeful smile. She knew he couldn’t do it. Mulberry hoped that he couldn’t. “I’m here now. Whatever is troubling you, I’m sure we could work through it toge-”
Antione’s eyes squeeze shut.
There is a loud bang. Mulberry stands in shock. Flecks of something hit her cheek. The mare’s ears are ringing, and there is a strong smell of black powder in the air. She looks sideways and sees a bullet hole that is no more than a few inches away.
She starts running and doesn’t come to her senses until she is at the bottom of the stairs. Mulberry doesn’t know where she is going, but she needs to get away from here.
From behind her Antione yells, She glances back and sees him standing at the banister looking around for her.
“Please come back! Your curiosity will only make things worse!”
A building flies past in a blur as she runs. His continued yells get quieter.
“My love! My sweet! Death is the only way out!”
Mulberry can barely hear him now.
“Don’t let them take you alive!”
The mare continues to run, and keeps running until she sees a large sheet of white in front of her. It’s the fog wall. She slows down and staggers behind a tree, panting. She barely has time to catch her breath before she starts giving heaving sobs. Her thoughts about the event that just unfolded are catching up to her and she can’t help but to break down and cry.
Her fiances betrayl. His attempt to hurt her. What has happened to him? How, despite all that she is still worried for him.
When she manages to actually calm down she contemplates her options. There is no guarantee that her fiance isn’t still looking for her. She could go back out through the fog wall she supposes to escape… But she can’t leave Antione to his madness. What if he hurts someone else? What if someone hurts him?
