I noticed a pretty big flaw in Applejack’s story. Ponyville wasn’t founded until at least the 800’s, but the scenes we saw of that event show Celestia already ruled from Canterlot, not the Castle of the Two Sisters, and there were probably already regular schools at that time.
 
The very simple explaination: Granny Smith is a crazy old bat whose account on the founding of Ponyville is wrong, and Diamond Tiara was the only foal who saw the emperor has no clothes.
 
Which incidentally also casts doubt on the rest of this story, which was already prone to distortion and rumour over centuries of oral retelling, not to mention it has hints of anti-Luna propaganda.

Incorrect  
“Youngling” refers to the star wars younglings  
when Anakin slaughters them in revenge of the sith  
It even states that in the tags!

that’s pretty damning evidence, applejack. since only students of magic have gone missing. yep, since nopony else has been killed, we can be sure it was princess luna, back for her evil revenge.
 
also applejack totally used the word for young changelings out of pure coincidence and is most certainly 100% a pony.
