I saw this post and it so succinctly summed up my biggest problem with the finale I had to share it.
And now I can’t get over that dumb finale.
Me too.
Also killed who? The worse they did in this episode was rough up a few guards and cause property damage.
Anytime anyone starts talking about right or wrong being subjective, I want to rob them and then explain my personal moral code allows me to do that and they shouldn’t force their personal desire to not be robbed on me.
Well I guess I have not seen it as much. Funny, your comment implies it really is that bad. Not doubting it.
Forget? Are you nuts? Some people never shut up about it.

I mean okay, yes, what they did could be considered a war crime. But what is anyone going to do? Not to mention who would actually care? They damn near destroyed Equestria in the process of taking it over, killing who know how many lives in the process, and then of course the inevitable deaths of how many more afterwards? Generally when really egregious actions are made by leaders in a war, they are executed as far as I know. What happened to the Legion of Doom doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, and if anything is the only logical and unfortunately necessary evil to preserve the greater good of Equestria.
You know, yadda yadda sacrifice few for the many and whatnot. I’m surprised they are so peeved about it. Taking the show too seriously is a bit of a problem. While the lessons it tries to teach are important; it’s world that it has to teach them in is no doubt less cruel than ours. One tends to forget how bad humans are compared to those in Fictional Equus.
Like all the nasty, manipulative people who “came from good, loving homes”? Some people are just horrible. There’s no point in trying to explain it.
Cozy Glow makes no sense. Nothing about Equestrian society should produce such a child. Unlike say British or American culture which is morally corrupt and decadent and actually does produce such children, Equestria seems like a decent place to live.
I think the toddler in question was Flurry Heart.
I agree that MLP is supposed to be an escape, and that’s why it hurts so much that nobody got redeemed in the finale.
I mostly didnt like it either, although it did have a few gems like Frenemies and Twilights Seven.
And yea, I’ll agree the Iran and North Korea were a bit silly.
I apologize to the op for using the word stupid. But invoking Iran and North Korea on freaking Equestria just boggled my mind. And perhaps you’re right, that line could have mitigated a lot.
I don’t know, I’m not fond of season 9 in general.
It’s not nice to call someone stupid based on a single 4chan post.
Didn’t Discord had to be threatened by the elements at first? The guy was practically forced to try and reform. Remember when Starlight was first defeated? She was offered a chance, but cut off Twilights friendship speech before trying to blast three of the townsponies there, then she ran off. Kinda like Chrysalis. And now that I think about it I wonder if Twilight would have tried befriending her had she managed to defeat her.
And the fact that they had to be snapped out of a revelation means that they had a potential for a revelation/reformation in the first place.
This entire drama could have been solved with a simple “maybe someday we can do to them what we did with Discord” instead of “together forever”
Seems a bit unfair not to give them the same chance other reformed villains got.
Stupidity frustrates me. And I am calm. If I were angry, I’d be swearing more.
As for Starlight and Discord, both have shown remorse for their actions and have since reformed. They have backslid and made mistakes (such as Discord’s inane plan which, to my shock and amazement, ACTUALLY FREAKING WORKED), but ultimately they work to make amends for those mistakes. (Although Discord needs to be prodded into it by Fluttershy usually.)
Her Majesty threw aside a potential revelation of friendship and talked Enragement Child and LORD Tirek into throwing aside their revelations as well.
‘cough’ Starlight and Discord ‘cough’
Aren’t you overreacting as well? It’s just a /mlp/ post, chill.
I agree that Discord’s plan was idiotic. The less said about that the better. I will say that when playing a part, you have to stay in goddamn character.
You’re trying to compare human society to a world of magical ponies, who have their own society and own rules. Grow up, stop taking things so goddamn seriously, and get a life. On top of that, they weren’t summarily executed. They’ve been given several life sentences worth of imprisonment in the safest possible containment.
On top of that, let’s not forget the campaign of terror and disharmony the three of them unleashed that nearly brought about the end of Equestria. Or have you forgotten the Windigoes, which only show up when Equestria’s on the verge of destroying itself? Those two monsters and the Enragement Child nearly caused the apocalypse. By all rights, Celestia and Luna should have evaporated them right there. Instead? They chose imprisonment.
Her Majesty, LORD Tirek, and Enragement Child are villains. They have rejected friendship at every turn and given them no reason to even try and reform them.
Stop overreacting.
@CottonTales
Said Toddler caused an Equestria-wide catastrophe for the sole purpose of gaining power. Cozy Glow is a terrorist and a supervillain.

That mad fool! This was his plan all along!
I am aware the magical horse show is unrealistic
But you brought up a real world argument so I didn’t have an Equestrian Sting operation to compare it to soooo what would I do? I can’t agree that is how something that doesn’t exist would handle it I can’t disagree either because it doesnt exist
But also its a SoL show mostly nobody is worse for the ware from most anything or anything really, if that is your argument nobody really does anything worth punishing because they’ll be better after the episodes are done
REAL harm. Nor real harm was shown. None of them were any worse for ware afterwards even if in real life or human morality they should have been.
The point is the show is so far removed from realistic consequence that it’s absurd to apply these real life comparisons here. And if you want to this unrealism came to be in Season 2 far before we can fault the finale, which is doing what the series has long done.
