Her friends could have tried talking to her first, but the actual things they did that episode weren’t actually bad. They were trying to show Rainbow that someone could be lauded as a hero without things going to their head, and them “complimenting” themselves was a part of that.
 
I can guarantee that they weren’t doing it out of narcissism.

Now comes the reveal: I’ve never seen the episode. I just made my post up with complaints by the fans read on TV Tropes.
 
So, no personal opinion, actually. Just tried to bait someone in order to check what happens if I refer to it. Boy, it was controversial and seems it has its fans, also.

Yes, if we take in into proportion (mortals vs god) they didn’t behave better than Discord, there. And Dash is by no means one of my favourites. This episode will be remembered as the old shame of the show: Dash risking lives for fun and heroics, her “friends” behaving like bastards, Scootaloo being a jerk… MLP’s “It’s A Wishful Life”.  
Personal opinion there, huh. I can be wrong.
