I still think spider goats would’ve done a better job
Rarity: “Oh, yes, darling! Star spiders are incredibly intelligent creatures… just unfortunately not quite as efficient and disciplined as raccoons.”
Amber Grain: (turns around) “Plus, they keep thet darn tootin’ flash bee population at bay!”
Fire Flicker: “But I like flash bees, they fascinate me!”

Questioning plot inconveniences doesn’t really get us anywhere. Like when Twilight and Starlight couldn’t magic Rarity’s hair back in the episode where Zecora brews two identical potions where one is shampoo and the other melts your hair.
Sometimes you just accept that when they say it be the way it is, that it do.
Couldn’t she just have Twilight put the threads under some stasis spell to slow down its bio-luminescent activity?
In fairness, she says in the episode that it only glows for a short time after it’s spun, so it had to be made right before it gets worn.
