Sounds more like you’re just reading way deep into a bunch of insignificant details. Twilight was content in Ponyville and she found a place there. She still ended up leaving it because life goes on.

Sunset’s going to have to do the same because High School doesn’t last forever, and people don’t just stay the same. The Humane Six will go to college or get jobs and find lives of their own. Sunset staying there away from the magic she loves in a world that isn’t hers because of one or two years of High School is kind of ridiculous.

Celestia more than likely would prefer Sunset come home, as she plainly said that she’s missed her. If Sunset goes back to Equestria she could be around her mother in all but name again (which would be good for both of them because there’s no way they’ve worked out all their issues yet), she could spend more time with Twilight and Starlight, make a ton of new friends, see all the new magic and places that has shown up in Equestria and spend the rest of her life doing what she loves. Plus she can come back to the human world to visit literally whenever because she’s close friends with the mirror keeper.

What’s the long term plan if she stays in the human world? Be almost completely cut off from Equestria after she leaves High School? Find a dead end job that in a non magic world doing the same thing everyday? Staying there solely because of the friends she made in high school that will all move on to other things whole she clings to the past? Never mind the difficulty explaining her continued undocumented existence and hoping she never crosses paths with the human Sunset.

Forgive me, but it just doesn’t make any sense for Sunset to limit herself like that just because she “found a place” or Twilight offhandedly called the human world her world because it made conversation and narrative easier to follow. The simple fact is Sunset can’t live the last year of high school forever, even if you want her to.

It’s not weighted. It’s literally what has been shown in EqG. And she is content with being in a mundane situation as hard as it is for you to wrap your head around it. This is even further proven by how the people who run EqG have said she found the place she belongs in and cut content from the finale shows she was going to become a principal.

Celestia is quiet content with Sunset’s situation. During forgotten friendship Celestia and Twilight kept referring to the mirror world as Sunset’s world, they’ve accepted that Sunset belongs there. In any case Sunset is her own person.

That’s a LOT of weight you’re putting on a handful of High School attachments isn’t it? Sunset’s recently acquired a good reputation a group of friends and some means of survival, all within about a year.

That doesn’t equate to having a new home that she’ll stay in forever and ever and never want to leave. Outside of the Humane six why should she stay forever? what does the human world have to offer Sunset that would make her want to stay for the rest of her life? She’s a unicorn with an love of magic. How can Sunset be happy in a world with no real place for either of those things?

Pretty much everything you listed is going to uproot as soon as High school’s over. All of Sunset’s friends will need to find their own place and go their separate ways, Sunset will need to find a means of living which would only get harder given that she basically shouldn’t exist in the human world, and eventually Sunset’s going to run out of magic to clean up.

Life is going to move on at some point and Sunset’s going to have to as well. It’d be kind of spitting in the face of reality and the final lesson of the show if she unrealistically didn’t. Imagine if Twilight stayed in Ponyville in the final episode instead of moving on just because she’d gotten comfortable there?

Could someone like Sunset really be happy in a mundane life, working a human desk job, separated from her Cutie Mark’s calling to magic just because her High School friends live in the same world? In Equestria she’d have a purpose, more magic than she’d know what to do with, a whole new world to explore, countless new friends to make, and she’d be able to see Princess Twilight and Celestia (who’s basically her mother) a lot more. And when she feels like it she can go back to the human world to check on her human friends. Why would Sunset turn her back on all that and live a boring life in the human world because she found a niche in High School?

Not to mention she really just doesn’t belong in the human world in a pretty literal sense. At some point you’d need to confront that the human world already has a Sunset Shimmer while she popped out of thin air from pony land.

There is no deeper context if there is no content behind it.

Who’s fault do you think it is that we don’t have the content that gives all that information?

Again with the real world comparisons, my goodness. I’m beginning to worry you might believe these characters are actually real BG.

Restate your same points for the third time if you want. There is nothing in the EQG world that outweighs Sunset’s origin and her biology.

I’m sorry but that’s the most inane justification I’ve heard. So what if she wasn’t born there? You know people settle down and make home out of places they weren’t born in all the time.

In the mirror world she has a job, she has a house that she resides in, her friends are all there, she goes to school and studies there. Meanwhile she has nothing in Equestria aside from Twlight who she writes to. She is never shown to be homesick, she never is shown to visit Equestria in her leisure time. The cut dialogue for the finale said she ended up becoming the principal of Canterlot High during the epilogue meaning she decided to stay there.

As for the my world comment you have to look at the context. I outlined above why it makes sense.

This post gives me the impression that if aliens from outer space existed and some of them moved here to live on Earth, you would be throwing rocks at them and demanding they go back home…

It’s not an assumption it’s objective fact that Sunset does not belong in the world of EQG. She was not born there, she was not raised there, she did not learn how to speak, eat, walk, read, or even learn to use magic in the EQG world.

Again this is not an assumption Sunset Shimmer is literally a completely different species then every other living being in the EQG world.

As far as Sunset using the term “my world” that is not an explanation or an admission of finding a “new home” and deciding to never return to a Equestia. That is a writing trick, it’s a dialogue shortcut for the audience.

Look throughout media where these types of plot lines take place, the words “my world” are never used in these stories in a heavy-handed or serious sense. It is always simply a dialogue shortcut to save time in the animation so as not to detract from the story.

If the term “my world” is used seriously in a piece of media that’s because the idea of choosing a world to call home is the plot of the animation.

@Paradox_Brony
On what assumption are you making the claim that she doesn’t belong there? Nothing in EqG remotely suggests that.

On the last point, yes it has been established. In Forgotten Friendship Sunset literally makes the claim that the mirror world is her world while she was in Equestria. She’s never shown any desire to go back to Equestria. And if you want to get a bit meta the director of EqG even said she found the place she belongs and the cut content for the final episode of the show pretty much said that Sunset stayed in the mirror world.

It’s okay if you still don’t understand it but it’s simply this what happened before Sunset was enrolled in Celestia’s school? Why do we still know nothing about that?

Sunset Shimmer is literally the only main character missing such a massive amount of information. And despite all of the EQG content she is still the only living being in the EQG world that does not belong there.

There is no real reason for why Celestia did not go or send anybody after her through the Mirror to drag her back. But now we have all this content and it gives people who disagree room to argue.

Lastly, no, it has not been established that she has found a new home. Because in order to do that we need to be shown her old home and be given a reason why she doesn’t want to go back.

I still doubt this is how the show ends since hasbro would upset many if they did which i hope they don’t

@Paradox_Brony
And what’s wrong with that? Is she not allowed to find a new home? Is she not allowed to be in the place she feels more comfortable at where her close friends are at? I dont get this obsession with Sunset returning to Equestria when in EqG it’s been established she’s found a new home.

As much as I love this concept, and wholeheartedly believe Sunset Shimmer should return to Equestia before the entirety of Generation 4 is concluded, I highly doubt this will happen. Which is actually really depressing when you think about it.

If there isn’t a moment of Sunset returning to Equestia for good it means that Sunset Shimmer died in the human world. Never able to say goodbye to Twilight, Starlight or Celestia.

I still have faith equestria girls will end it deserves a proper ending as well
