Description

Y’all I’ve been working on this for 3 days so I hope you like it as much as I liked making it! I’ve seen these two in screenshots and I made up a whole story for them ^^’

Soarin

Born to two talented fliers, Soarin wanted nothing more than to make his parents proud. That didn’t seem too hard though, considering that his mother and father thought he was amazing in anything he did. He was the youngest of three children and a surprise to his parents, born after his mother thought she could have another baby. But regardless, Soarin was the apple of his parents’ eye.

Being in an athletic family, Soarin’s parents were very encouraging when it came to their children wanted to explore any sport. When their youngest wanted to train to become a better flier, his father was all too happy to teach him everything he knew (at a reasonable pace, of course). By the time Soarin was old enough to try more complex maneuvers, he was so diligently trained in the basics that he was ready for anything.

Soarin received his cutie mark from flying in a junior level race during a terrible foggy morning, in which he not only won the race, but helped clear the mist while flying to make sure the other racers could see. While Soarin is an excellent and speedy aerial stuntpony, he is also rather skilled in weather clearing techniques.

The moment Soarin was old enough to sign up for the training with the Wonderbolts, he did. He trained with a few other soon-to-be Wonderbolts, like Spitfire and Fleetfoot, and became rather good friends with the two mares. They trained constantly, raising their ranks to the best in the class. Spitfire and Fleetfoot were always a team, being respectful lead and wing pony to one another, while Soarin was lead pony to playful pegasus Surprise.

After years of training and being a part of the Wonderbolt as a swing flier, Soarin became a full-fledged member of the team. He was now rejoined with Spitfire and Fleetfoot, who had come into the same ranks less than a year before him. The three became “the dream team”, putting every bit of their energy and skill into their new positions.

Aside from constant performances, training sessions, and rehearsals, Soarin and his team make appearances at the majority of formal events and charity fundraisers. He doesn’t mind showing up to these kind of things. In fact, he enjoys them! With formal outfits and uniforms comes fine dining and Soarin loves nothing more than eating his weight in fancy hors d’oeuvres and dessert. He had always been quite the foodie, and is known by all his friends to always be down for a snack.

Apple Bumpkin

Apple Bumpkin, similar to Applejack, was born into a small herd of foals that added to the Appleloosa-based Apple family. As the second oldest in a family of 7, it was expected of Apple Bumpkin to help keep the younger foals in line, which she took great pride in. She would help pack lunches, assist with chores, and make sure everyone was ready for bed at the end of a long day. Bumpkin’s head hit the pillow every night, absolutely exhausted from school, work on her parent’s farm, and helping the younger foals. She wasn’t exactly able to pursue random interests and hobbies growing up from her schedule always being jam packed. But what she could do, she did well. Like most earth ponies, Apple Bumpkin is built for strength. While she doesn’t fully have the expected “stocky and solid” frame, she still packs a wallop on an apple tree that’s ready to be harvested.

Because of Apple Family Reunions, Apple Bumpkin got to see her favorite cousins in Ponyville at least once or twice a year. She was particularly fond of Applejack and her younger sister Applebloom, who shares a similar coat and hair color with Bumpkin. AJ and Bumpkin would regularly compete over everything whenever they were together: apple bucking, carrying full carts, plowing fields, etc. But one thing Applejack could never beat her cousin at was cooking.

Not very surprisingly to any of the Apple family, Bumpkin showed an innate talent in cooking and baking. Her specialty is in comfort food of the fruit variety and she never leaves the house without lists of needed ingredients or treats she needs to bring to her friends. Apple Bumpkin was hardly a pushover, but believed hard work should be rewarded with good food.

Once Applejack’s traveling treat cart took off more at the Grand Galloping Gala (and other big events like the Friendship Festival), AJ enlisted Apple Bumpkin in helping bake and run the stand. Bumpkin fills the cart each time with enough tarts, candy apples, pie, cake, and dumplings to feed an entire army.

Because of living a rather “basic” lift in Appleloosa unless traveling to visit family, Apple Bumpkin wasn’t exactly hyped about most normal things for a mare her age. Even earth ponies in Appleloosa tended to be fans of things like pegasi stunt teams, unicorn magicians and travelling acts, and royalty visiting around the country. Bumpkin didn’t exactly find any of these things particularly fascinating and tended to stick to things that caught her eye, like the county fair and the rodeo coming into town.

And here’s a sneak peek into their relationship:

When Soarin and Bumpkin first met, she was tending the apple stand while he decided to treat himself to a pie after a performance. Apple Bumpkin didn’t think too much of him at first, barely recognizing the uniform when he approached her. It wasn’t until Applejack explained how often he came to buy snacks from the cart that Bumpkin started to be amused by the stallion. After all, foodies stick together.

Any time Bumpkin ran into Soarin, food was involved. With Rainbow Dash a member of the Wonderbolts, it wasn’t super uncommon for the team to be invited over for an “post practice” dinner hosted by the Apple family if they were in any town with even one Apple present. Whenever the team traveled, they were always greeted in a warm country family fashion, with enough food and cider for everyone.

Once the two started running into each other more often, Soarin couldn’t help but start to flirt with Apple Bumpkin. He tried showing off in the way he knew (with pegasi-themed advances), which did little but make Bumpkin smile at the foolishness of the winged stallion. When he saw his attempts to win her affection wasn’t working as well as he thought it would (cuz let’s be real, he was quite the heartthrob in the pegasi community), Soarin decided to go for a different approach. Instead of showing himself off like a peacock, he started bringing her flowers and even tried baking a pie for her (which turned out to be a bit less than ideal). It was clear that Soarin was trying pretty hard and it seemed like the whole Apple family was interested in seeing how his advances would play out.

After awhile, Apple Bumpkin couldn’t help but admire his adorable behavior and his willingness to try things she enjoyed instead of depending on his skills to impress. She decided to take it slow with Soarin, which was easy considering the two had quite the distance between them. Sometimes they would meet halfway, which was often near Ponyville, and spend the weekend together to catch up and spend time with other members of the Apple family (who gladly welcomed Soarin with open arms).

Even though Soarin is well-known and assertive when it comes to his Wonderbolts work, Apple Bumpkin is known to take charge. She makes sure to listen to her partner and pay attention to his needs, but isn’t afraid to speak her mind and get his attention with playful yanks on his tie or uniform.
