I’ve heard rumors that some of the writers were revelling in their chance to make their craziest D&D game ideas come to life on the MLP ’n Friends show. Dream Valley was practically D&D valley in a lot of ways.

One thing I loved about g1 is just how the writers picked the most random things to include in the show and yet created a good story out of it

Policemen crabs chasing evil flowers
A massivly overpowered rock dog that hates everything soft
The smooze (g4 smooze didn’t live up to the original)
