What if “many moons” in Equestria was not as long in the human world? Just something I came up with.

I need a fanfic of this like yesterday.
but Equestria would have changed drastically by then, to the point of being unrecognisable; if she were to return there, she wouldn’t feel at home.
(if you’ve no idea what I say, get a good look at “Stranger in a Familiar Land” on TV Tropes.)
It could be a Narnia situation where not only is there a time difference between the two worlds but it’s an inconsistent time difference. 😄
It is impossible for more than a year to have passed in EqG since Sunset had won three Fall Formals already at the first film. So given we’ve never seen the EqG characters graduate, and we’ve seen three Hearth’s Warmings in FiM since Season 3 (I’m counting the Season 9 episode and Best Gift Ever as the same year’s celebration since they’re so close together), that means time in the human world at minimum passes at roughly 1/3 the speed of time in the pony world.
So Sunset has probably at least graduated from Canterlot High after the time skip at the end, but she’d still be much younger than any of the pony world characters that were her age at the first film.
people learn between good and bad at around five years of age. but they can also learn not to give two shits about it. again, look at Cozy Glow.
I have plenty of fallacies, but none have had any major detriment to my argument so far. And honestly, its hard to take you say at face value with that username.
“and no, I don’t see the world in black and white.”
Then read what I actually say so I don’t have to accuse you as such! The only reason I accused you of that is because you couldn’t(or didn’t want to) understand what I actually said and misinterpreted.
“okay, so I am wrong.”
Apparently.
“Sunset is only ninety-five percent to blame for forsaking her mentor and going on a mad quest for power.”
And THERE it is…this absolutism that a child or preteen is mostly responsible for their actions and underdeveloped morals. Do you even understand how children and their underdeveloped minds entails?
We live in modern era, we know that nurture is a massive impact on children. When preteens make impetuous decisions, they are still called temper tantrums.
“but it’s not.”
But it is. And you have not given even a bit of analysis that states otherwise.
“she could have done more for Sunset, but it wouldn’t matter anyway. any attempt to keep her on the right path would’ve just delayed the inevitable.”
XD What even is this statement?!
So Sunset would of gone evil even if she was given the proper amount of patience and care? Are you a writer for Equestria Girls? Did you know that she would of gone evil anyways because your on the writing staff? You are drawing this statement out of thin air. Not only is it a complete assumption on your part with absolutely nothing to back it up, its an assumption backed on the idea that Sunset was simply born evil.
Dude, that’s messed up.
“and the girl wasn’t even a child; she was already a young adult at the time. most likely in her very late teens.”
…
Okay, correcting you isn’t even fun anymore, this is just sad.
Newsflash, Sunset is in highschool, not college. Even if we were to assume she was a senior in EG1, which doesn’t make sense since she’s had her final since then and still been a student, the portraits of her past victories still show her much younger, at least 15. She’s not even close to a young adult when she left Equestria.
“oh, come on. don’t tell me Sunset didn’t know right from wrong then. or that she knew not what she did.”
She did not. Children and preteens are far too stupid and underdeveloped to know whats best and what is moral with their young minds. We live in reality, this is extremely common knowledge. How could you not know this?
“sounds to me like you’re demonizing Celly just to make Sunset look good in comparison.”
I am not. As I JUST told you, they are both responsible. It was a two way street. Sunset let the confidence she was given go to her head, and Celestia demonstrated she has been an incredibly bad guardian. And Celestia doesn’t need the Sunset incident to be demonized, Celestia does that well enough on her own time like endangering the lives of her citizens with her reckless Twilight lessons, like with Sombra. Point is, when we connect what we know about Sunset’s story with what we know of Twilight’s story, there is no good one to spin it. Celestia abandoned her surrogate preteen daughter to her reckless decision, the quickly replaced her with a hyperdependent unicorn that could be easily molded and who would never question anything she said.
Your arguments are completely messed up. I honestly don’t see the point in continuing this conversation any longer. And to be quite frank, with that username I’m half way convinced that this is simply your troll account. Seems pretty likely at this point.
See ya.

and of course Celestia supplanted Sunset with a more worth and responsible candidate to succeeding her – Twilight wasn’t the arrogant, antisocial freak Sunset was. there’s nothing shifty about it – it was just an unfortunate turn of events and Celestia decide to make right on them. which she did.
“so Celestia is entirely to blame for what Sunset decided to do or not to do? “
I never said anything of the sort! The hell? Are one extreme or the other the only concepts you accept?
You personally said “ Sunset is entirely accountable”.
I rightfully pointed out that that was pure nonsense, that Celestia definitely had a hand in Sunset going rogue, as Celestia’s own issues back then were pointed out in the comic and show. Neither of them are wholly responsible, that was my point, that it wasn’t “all the child’s fault”. It was a two way street that they are BOTH significantly responsible for their relationship collapse.
ALSO, even without the timeline explanations, the canon portraits of Sunset in earlier high school competitions spell out that Sunset WAS still very young when she left, just out of her preteens at most. That much is COMPLETELY set in stone.
While they are both responsible, that tidbit of canon info speaks a lot of Celestia, and how irresponsible it was not to go after her extremely young surrogate daughter. Society does not expect us to be self sufficient at the age of ~14 due to our undeveloped ability to make choices, so for Celestia to not go after her and immediately replace her with Twilight does not say good things about Celestia.
Like I said before, the whole situation was pretty shifty. Celestia pushing Twilight from student to Princess of Friendship, then pushing her again from Princess of Friendship, Ruler of Nothing to Princess, Ruler of All Equestria, makes the whole thing look 10 times worse.
so Celestia is entirely to blame for what Sunset decided to do or not to do? not so. did you forget that Sunset refused to listen to her mentor and flouted all her teachings? that too was suggested in the comics and the show.
Wrongo. Both the comic and the show suggest that Celestia wasnt as good a teacher back then, that she fostered Sunset’s ego too much and was far less patient and quick to anger.
And, in any case, in any mentor/mother relationship, it’s very rarely a situation where it’s “all the child’s fault”. No one in modern era buys that nonsense anymore. Children and preteens act on impulse, yet Celestia was not invested enough to go after her.
Sunset and Sci Twi can think for themselves and can choose their own path. Pony “then I’ll make a friendship problem’ Twilight on the other hand has hyperdependency, which leads her into all sorts of nervous breakdowns. She’s only a responsible member of society when she’s in her little bubble of ‘doing what Celestia wants her to do’. She was the weakest link of the Mane 6 in the movie because she was, as always, too obsessed with completing Celestia’s mission.
and a very long distance indeed. we’re talking thousands of light years away, right?
@CronoM
false. Sunset abandoned Celestia when she didn’t get what she wanted, so Celestia supplanted her with someone who would grow up to be a responsible and productive member of society. so really, Sunset is entirely accountable for the situation she’s put herself in.
@Background Pony #FE78
obviously not Sci-Twi, who’s with Timber. so it’s gotta be Flash or no one.
I mean…Sunset had to deal with humans that are way more curious than they should be, finding and using some of the more powerful magical equestrian artifacts and wild magic (Everfree magic in a human host, enough power to rip holes to other dimensions, a memory manipulating object, a time-looping object, etc.)
Sunset: are you frigging kidding me!? You get to fight chrysalis, tirek and some mentally unstable filly while i stuck here human world dealing regular stuff!?
Princess twilight: well at least you fine
Sunset: ….
@Background Pony #06AE
You’re both wrong. It has been less than a year because there hasn’t been another Fall Formal.
@IceKitsune
I really wouldn’t put any credence into that theory given the franchise’s record for art errors.
The show’s timeline isn’t much better. I blame the Doctor.
It has to be more than one year. Because in Holiday Unwrapped Applejack has the Geode in the flash backs talking about the Flim Flam Brothers she said that “one year they stole the ladders”, “another year they debottomed our baskets, “last year they gave Applebloom a worm” that means at least 3 years have past since they got the geodes.
I mean you could argue I’m looking to much into it but I think its reasonable to say at least 3 years have gone by since the beginning of the series. Though the whole thing is rather pointless anyway since just about any timeline you make for it falls apart and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Equestria Girls 1 -Autumn.
Equestria Girls 2 - I think it’s still Autumn (It’s only been a couple of weeks.)
Equestria Girls Comic (Christmas special, no canon) -Winter.
Equestria Girls 3 - Spring
Equestria Girls 4 - I think it’s still spring.
Equestria Girls Special (Forgotten friendship, Rollercoaster of Friendship, etc). -Summer
Equestria Girls Holidays unwrapped -Winter.
I feel that in Equestria Girls it has only been more than 1 year.
No month, a year. And 1300 years have passed in Narnia.
At the end of the first “Chronicles of Narnia” movie Fifteen years later, the Pevensie children, now young adults, chase a white stag through the forest. They encounter the lamppost Lucy saw earlier and suddenly tumble out of the wardrobe at the same time and day they left, becoming children again.

But, who does Sunset settle down with? After hearing that she’s bisexual, who will it be? Flash or Sci-Twi?
