That’d just be a bad disguise. Be careful though, because they can potentially be almost anything. Any object that naturally has in any way, shape, or form a hinge or lid of some sort to serve as their mouth. Boxes, chests, barrels, couches, vehicles, jars, just about anything. Even little ones and big ones :D
what about a mimic whose disguise is a mimic?
There are some mimics that are effectively conjoined, like they’ll be one creature with multiple mouths and multiple tongues within, but there’ll never be a mimic inside another mimic :P

Indeed. It’s an evolutionary trait since they eat things like jagged metals or sharp gems: their bodies are so rubbery it’s next to impossible to stab or cut them. It also makes it a lot easier to hold an adventurer in their mouth while they dissolve his stuff XD

I feel conflicted about that.
She’s pretty rubbery. Even the box part is every bit as rubbery and stretchy as her tongue part :D
