Pinkie simply nodded and they walked downstairs. Past the Cakes level and past the Cafe level all the way down till they reached Pinkie’s party basement.
 
 
As they arrived Pinkie walked to her own personal cooler and grabbed a water and handed it to Rainbow who proceeded to gulp it down no problem.
 
 
“Ah” she sighed and sat down on the rug.
 
 
Pinkie followed all the while waiting for the go sign. When Rainbow Dash was done she looked at her.
 
 
“May I speak now” pinkid dryly said
 
 
Rainbow Nodded
 
 
Pinkie took a deep breath and tried to articulate what she wanted to ask. A million questions flew in her mind but she couldn’t figure out what to pick. Dumbfoundead she blurted out
 
 
“What happened to your hair?”
 
 
Taken aback by her response Rainbow just stared at her surprised then she looked down and seemed to notice her hairs dull color for the first time in a long while.
 
 
“Uhhhhh guess I’ve been tired a lot lately” she mumbled a reply.
 
Pinkie nodded in understanding “right a foal is probably difficult to take care off”
 
 
“Mmm” Rainbow mumbled a reply
 
 
Silence descended upon the two. Pinkie fretted some more before she finally couldn’t take it anymore and burst.
 
 
“What are you doing here in ponyville? Why are you here in ponyville why did you bring Thunderclap with you? Did you have a fight with Gilda?”
 
 
And hearing her name broke Rainbow and burst into tears. Large yowls filled the room (luckily they were underground and no one could probably here). This shocked Pinkie and she immediately tried to shush and calm her down
 
 
“Oh Please, oh please don’t cry! There’s no need come on. What happened!?”
 
 
Rainbow was sobbing so hard she could barely utter words in between her sobbs but she managed to focus enough to spit out the words.
 
 
“I Failed!” and then she descended into sobbing again.
 
 
“BWHAAT?” Pinkie balked “ What do you mean you failed? *Gasp! Did the party not go well?”
 
 
“NO! N-nno the part w-went fine” Rainbow sobbed trying to wipe away her tears with her hooves “A-ah-after the party is when things went awol.”
 
 
“What was it?”
 
 
“It-its Gilda”
 
 
“Did she forget the cake”
 
 
“No”
 
 
“Did she sour the part. You know she’s not good at parties”
 
 
“Start talking about the party Pinkie it has nothing to do with it!”
 
 
“Oh sorry….then what was it?”
 
 
“She been cheating on me Pinkie”
 
 
There, boom the bomb had finally been released and Pinkie, was, agasp he jaw dropped to the floor and her eyes grew to the size of glass plates. She couldn’t speak, she coulndt fathom she almost wanted to deny it but Rainbow’s honesty could only confirm her worst fears.
 
 
“Oh, oh Rainbow” and she did the only thing she could do. Wrap her hooves around Rainbow and hug her…..tightly
 
“I’m so sorry Rainbow” she whispered into her friends mane
 
 
Rainbow started crying again and pressed her tightly to Pinkie’s neck.
 
 
“I failed Pinkie”
 
 
“What?”
 
 
“I’ve failed everything”
 
 
Absolutely baffled Pinkie pulled herself back and stared agasp at Rainbow “WHAT Do YOU MEAN YOU FAILED!”
 
 
“I mean I’ve failed everything and everyone! The wonderbolts, Stoneclaw, you guys and Thunderclap oh , and especially Thunderclap!”
 
 
Pinkie, in shock, grabbed her best friend by her shoulders and proceeded to rattle her with her hooves “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU FAILED! GILDA CHEATED ON YOU! “
 
 
This shocked her Rainbow and she could only blink away her tears and sputter out a “b’but”
 
 
“No buts Rainbow this isn’t a competition you put your life and soul on hold to help realize GIldas dreams and have a family with her. Her being a st-stupid ah’ a stupid bitch is not your fault! You understand!” Pinkie ended her statement with a hard shake rattling Rainbows bones.
 
 
“Ow l-let go of me idiot” Annoyed she pushed pinkies hooves off
 
 
“Sorry” Pinkie replied “but you do get it right? This isn’t some simple competition Rainbow (not that wonderbolts races aren’t simple) or a single poppy party this is life and its sadly offered you a sour cake.
 
 
Rainbow looked confused at her friends confusing cake analogy
 
 
Pinkie sighed trying to rattle her brain for the right words “The wonder bolts will take you back no problem, the residents of Stoneclaw would understand, our friends would completely love and support you and didn’t ruin Thunderclaps life! You saved it! What would have happened if you stayed, huh? GIldas’ antics wouldn’t have stopped you thinking growing up in that lying, cheating household would have helped Thunderclap!? Huh!? Would it have!?”
 
 
Rainbow stared at her thinking long and hard about what her friend had said. Slowly she came of the realization
 
 
“You right” she muttered “you right. Holy Celestia Your right! This is this isn’t my fault. You know whats my fault! It’s my fault I didn’t call out her horseshit allot earlier!”
 
 
“Yeah!”
 
 
“Six months. For six whole months she kept making excuses and kept going anywhere and everywhere possible. Oh Pinkie you have no idea on how much Thunderclap missed her. And- and she missed everything! She missed Thunderclap first words and first baby teeth and first friends, basically everything! She missed everything!” Rainbow’s voice started to sputter out in the end and more ears decorated her cheeks
 
 
This sent a pang through Pinkies heart “Oh cupcake Im so so sorry you had to go through this”
 
 
“Sniff. Yeah.. yeah me too. I-i should’ve put a stop to this so much sooner, but I jus- just kept putting it off. Moving to griffonstone and going on leave from the wonderbolts was the biggest gamble i could’ve possibly taken and I- ….I didn’t want to lose.”
 
 
Silence permeated the room for a little while as Rainbow got her thoughts into order
 
 
“I see now that it was incredibly stupid of me to do that. To justify everything she did all for the sake of winning it was, it was the biggest mistake I have ever made.”
 
 
Pinkie could only sadly smile at her friends realization. With one hoof she lifted Rainbows jaw
 
 
“Aw cupcake… you’ll be alright.”
