Eh, I remember having a classmate in Kindergarten that - I kid you not - spent the entire school day - all 6 hours of it - crying her lungs out because she wanted to be with her mom.
There is always at least one kid like that in these younger age groups at school. Spike just happens to be the one here. He’ll be fine once he gets used to not having Mama there 24/7, especially when he starts making friends.
