Firstly, furry only posts are not welcome on ponybooru. There seems to be a misunderstanding of this. Any post containing furry must be accompanied with or related to mlp in some way. Originally when the site admin had come up with the idea (over a year ago) and started working on the site, there was an initial plan to have it be a furry and pony booru or have them exist on the same site but accessed separately (it was only ever a concept so my knowledge on the details are few). This changed very early, far before any public release but there were remnants in the rules and other places when ponybooru did go online. This has been changed, and we are still strictly a pony only booru.
Did we create the site purely to be a safe haven for nazi imagery? Certainly not, as I explained before the early concepts of ponybooru were spawned far before there we any public talks of derpibooru removing nazis. We do however host said images on our site but that is not our goal. Our goal is to preserve all mlp art indiscriminately of moral objection, so long as it does not violate US law. It just so happened that the only thing differentiating derpibooru from ponybooru right now is the stance on nazi images. In the future if the vocal majority decides foalcon, rape, incest or any other number of taboo topics gets banned from derpi you can rest assured that you can find it on ponybooru. We’re not a true archive, but we strive to preserve art in its true form to the best we can without censorship. That is our goal, we’re not pro-nazi, were not pro-facism, we’re not pro any ‘-ism’s we just want to look at ponies.
We are working on some features that will help differentiate our booru from derpibooru more. Nothing set in stone but some of the concepts we’ve been toying with include, hosting fanfics, new supported file types, such as pdf, mp3, wav (we added .mp4 support on day 1 and are considering more), music hosting, youtube embeds and some other minor changes. All of these are subject to change and may not be implemented but its what we’ve considered.
