Honestly, I thought this was the way to go. Celestia retires, Luna steps in. By retiring the both of them, Celestia just denied Luna a chance at ruling Equestria. Pre Nightmare Moon Luna would have been so angry. But what if the idea of retirement for both was Luna’s? She really did not like Celestia’s role when they swapped that one time.
