I think they would have been successful
I don’t think that would do it justice. Just calling them birds would seem like having no imagination.
I’m not saying that you don’t.
My little hang-up is that when you have a set world or universe and a race or species is introduced they have a name that they identify.
Kinda like in the Mass Effect series where different types of alien races are introduced.
I’m not hating the parrot pirates, I just think it would be nice if they had an actual name for them.

Oh I understood the concept behind it, because pirate captains tend to have a pet parrot on their shoulders. I get that, I just wonder if they have an official name for their race is all.

Really? That doesn’t sond fitting at all seeing as harpies are usually depicted as female. There’s got to be a term for them in the fantasy creature index. I appologize if I seem a bit obsessive, it’s just that calling them just “Parrot Pirates” just seems generic as all hell.
I think back when people cared, a few were calling them harpies.
