Little does she know that if she doesn’t like being a colorful abomination she could always just change back into her old form (or a modified version without all the holes). Of course, that’s not the only problem. The changelings also stopped defending themselves (until Pharynx got them to fight back against a malwurf) and abandoned their culture to try and create new traditions like singing “carols” which have failed.
 
I think Chrysalis should have returned to the hive as an advisor to Thorax (not necessarily rule alongside him) so that the changelings can be like the dragons as in embracing friendship while maintaining their culture.

Then just don’t share love? It’s been established since his debut episode that Thorax becoming good didn’t transform him into a rainbow moose.  

The real Chrysalis. The whole “yeah I’m a fucking irredeemable monster” look was just a facade to make everyone think that she’s very evil because deep down she’s afraid of becoming a colorful abominaton like the rest of the changelings, so she tries to do brutal things like ripping off Spike’s wings but can’t bring herself to do it because she’s not purely evil. Chrysalis developed redeeming qualities in season 9 like catching Cozy so she wouldn’t get killed or not hurting Spike after Twilight begged not for her to hurt him. Therefore she is nowhere near as evil as she wants us to think. She’s just upset that Thorax ruined the changeling hive by throwing away all the old traditions and trying to copy the ponies, unlike the Dragons who learned to embrace friendship while maintaining their culture.

Chrysalis definitley looks and acts more monstorous in the comics.

Andy wanted to give Chrysalis a more monster like appearance because reoccurring antagonist. But I still want to boop her snoot.

The comics are worse but even in the series 95% of her expressions comes down to I’m unambiguously evil fear me
